RE: Wednesday
I wonder if we can pay our D Coordinator competitively against say positions coaches at Minnesota. I always thought Paul Haynes could be a good D Coordinator.

No, he made more as a coordinator than he did here as a Head Coach. Even Lewis could’ve made more elsewhere but getting that position title on a resume is what makes it worth it in the long run. After his stint here as HC he’s not coming back here in a lesser position.

Going off statistics, age, and pulling from the FCS. I haven't watched any FCS games these teams have played in so I can't vouch for anything other than what the stats show.
Ola Adams - Villanova DC
2021 - #4 261.1/ypg - #8 15.44/ppg
2020 - #61 377.8/ypg - #48 24.3/ppg
2019 - #67 388.2/ypg - #45 26.1/ppg
Scott James - Holy cross DC
2021 - #6 267/ypg - #24 19.89/ppg
2020 - #35 329.8/ypg - #9 17/ppg
2019 - #53 379/ypg - #35 24.3/ppg
Lorenzo Ward - UT Chattanooga DC
2021 - #9 276.1/ypg - #12 17.11/ppg
2020 - #6 245.8/ypg - #29 20.6/ppg
2019 - #74 398.6/ypg - #80 36/ppg

Odd to bring in the guy that replaced Kaufman at Chattanooga to replace him here too.

I didn't even put that together I just looked at the current top 25 for guys that had been there a few years. That way they aren't one hit wonders. With the coaching staff being full of young guys I tried to find younger coaches to fit in.

RE: Wednesday
Not to take anything away from them, but Holy Cross & Chatty play in some weak conferences with some really weak programs and offenses. Villanova on the other hand has a good defense and plays in a stacked CAA. If I’m grabbing from FCS I’m looking to the CAA or Missouri Valley first.

I think we can all agree that whoever is calling the defense for Florida right now is off the list.

RE: Wednesday
I guess a lot of this conversation is probably pointless at this point. How we finish the season will determine the direction this goes because that will determine if Lewis is back and he's hiring a new DC or if he's hired away and we're looking for a new coaching staff altogether.

RE: Wednesday
One thing worth noting. Toledo gives up the second fewest points per game in the Mac and the fewest yards per game. Their DC... Vince Kehres. I think a lot of us were disappointed when he finally left Mount Union for the MAC and it wasn't for Kent. Seems like we could've built a juggernaut with him and Lewis.

RE: Wednesday
I think he would need to win out to have a chance to be hired away. Winning out he would be 21-22 over his career. That would include a MAC championship and 2-0 bowl record. But is that enough or will he need another year to get above .500 for an AD to make the call?

Hazell retired in 2018. D-coordinator might make a nice retirement gig...
