It doesn’t work that way anymore. Supposedly the players don’t want to play for him anymore because of it.

Because of it? Or is 'it' the excuse to get rid of a coach they do not like?

In other words, do the players not want to play for him anymore because of his saying the N-word or is his saying the N-word the players' excuse for getting rid of a coach they do not like?
Hopefully it is the former and not the latter, but I would bet it is the former. If the players really liked Coach Hayford, they would have handled this in house and not made it public. Of course, we will probably never know as we move further and further down the cancel culture rabbit hole.

They do not like the coach, but signed there to play for him? Remained still, though it’s easier than ever to transfer now?

I wonder if truly all the player are saying they won't play for him like some are claiming. I would be surprised if seniors who have invested in the program and the school for a number of years truly want to start the season with a new coach, or if this is bench warmer freshmen with attitudes who don't want to ride the bench so they take it out on the coach. It happens a lot.

Your take is even worse that DZ. Bench warmer freshmen started this, claimed a coach used the n word, to take it out on the coach. Based on what? Ridiculous. Another one of your awesome predictions, Nostradamus?

AND the considerable negative press which could potentially effect Seattle's recruiting, the schools has no choice but to consider parting ways with Hayford. Seattle U. is now in damage control mode and trying to reduce the collateral damage caused by what appears to be Hayford's misguided form of discipline and obviously stupidity for uttering the racist N-word. There is no "cancel culture" here. What culture finds it necessary to use the N-word? There is no justifiable reason to use the N-word. Period!
The culture still allows blacks to use it on blacks which depending on what you want to read into the report was the impetus of the situation. I agree the word should never be used. That same it is ok for one to call ones own group that word but no one else can has been around for a long time.

Right. You can talk crap about your own family, but nobody else can. Same principle here.
Really? Same principle? So we are equating a whole ethnic or racial group now to a family? All African-Americans are lumped into the same family and are supposed to just sit back and accept the "crap" thrown at them just because it comes from another African-American? Being in a mixed race family myself, none of us would stand for this type of discrimination based solely on a person's pigmentation. Character counts more than one's skin color.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." - Martin Luther King, Jr. (Aug. 28, 1963)

Pistol the term 'cancel culture' does not refer to an actual culture. Of course no culture finds it necessary to use the N-word, and of course there is no justifiable reason to use the N-word.
Cancel culture refers not to a culture but to "the mass withdrawal of support from public figures or celebrities who have done things that aren't socially accepted today. This practice of "canceling" or mass shaming often occurs on social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook." (Merriam-Webster). All I am saying is that we do not know the full story. There has yet to even be an investigation and we are all on here already 'canceling' Coach Hayford and siding with the players. Aren't we jumping the gun?

Unfortunately what is going on is more of a political issue than it is a sports issue. If I assume that the report is correct and players used the word first then let's suspend everyone that used the word for some number of games and move on with a new policy In the SU program that truly moves to eliminate the use of the word period.

There is nothing else to debate.

Seattle University men’s basketball head coach Jim Hayford has been suspended and is on administrative leave, pending a school investigation following allegations from one of his players that Hayford repeated the “N-word” on two occasions.

The incident occurred during Thursday’s scrimmage. Sources said that it wasn’t the first time that Hayford had repeated the word after one of his players said it, and that it also occurred once during the summer.

His coaching career is over, he should just resign.

I take the above statement back... I fell into the same trap that most people do these days... I rushed to judgement without having all the facts.

If it was in the context of him telling players to stop saying/using that word, then he should fight the suspension and resign if proven guilty.

I am completely against being guilty until proven innocent.

6th Amendment
These rights are given to all men or women under trial for any sort of wrongdoing. They establish the “innocent until proven guilty” mantra that is present in the United States legal system.

I guess public opinions are above the law.

He shouldn’t say the word, period. With context or not. He may not be wrong and you’re probably right, but that’s the way it is.

Who cares about amendments anymore? lol it’s 2021 people, get with the times!

The fact that he hasn’t been fired yet shows how incompetent Seattle is. Kick them out, WAC! Chico State wants to move up, I hear.

He shouldn't have repeated the word but it seems Seattle players haven't liked him for awhile probably because he gets on their butts. They are soft and don't like to be yelled at. They used his slip up to get him fired. Classic!!! Seattle players would never make it playing for Chris Jans at NMSU. That's for sure. As much as Hayford was an ass, he was still a good coach. Not having him on the bench the other night is why they barely beat Alcorn State. It's going to be one long season for Seattle.

I also believe the player who said the n word should be kicked off the team.

But we live in a world where these new generation of kids are just soft AH. If we ever fought another World War, we would probably lose.

You want a player kicked off a team for saying a word? Maybe you’re the soft one.
