Most definitely...from lawn chairs to FBS stadiums.

When announced at the game tomorrow, I wonder how many will even understand what it means. 03-lmfao

Would of been nice to be playing a CAA school tomorrow.

Our administration nailed it. For years we have been critical of them. Meanwhile behind our anger and frustration they were building a plan. I know I have been very critical of the admin, and I will admit I did not give them enough credit.
I said for a long time that I didn't think JMU would ever go to the Sun Belt, nor would the Sun Belt ever take us again. I didn't know that the decision for JMU not to accept was not a rejection of the Sun Belt, but JMU saying they needed more time.
As everything that has transpired, I am beyond elated for JMU to join the Sun Belt. If you had told me that JMU could be in an FBS conference with App State, Marshall and ODU I would have thought that was very unlikely but would be incredible.
I have a ton of respect for what the Sun Belt has done and honored that we will be in this conference. But to be clear: we are there to win.
And lastly, I challenge all of us as supporters of JMU to open your wallets and show your support.
JMU is FBS. Wow.

Ditto - couldn't say it better - so many of us, myself included, have been hypercritical... what a day for Dukes!! Contributing to scholarship fund now.

And to give credit where credit is due....
Huge props to ODU president for appearing to the General Assembly in our favor. He didn't have to be there, but it says a lot to have ODU there in support was really cool to see.
While I still want to destroy them on the field, I do have a new respect for them. I am thankful and grateful to be in a conference with them.

that was a good video...congrats to all the admin - was surprised that JBourne didn't speak. Alger did a good job, and seemed way more comfortable than usual. Suit appeared to fit better too 03-wink Charlie King - i'd never seen him speak today, and he really owned the room - reminded me of Ron a bit

But the one question we all want to know is did the cowboy hat make an appearance?

In all seriousness kudos to JA, JB,CK and all the others who have slogged through this for the past number of years while we fans all moaned and complained (well most of us anyway!!) in laying out a plan and pathway and then following it to get to this day.

Many thanks.

Go Dukes!!

JB is too far down on the administrative food chain to speak to a GA committee. His presence today was basically to occupy a seat and show the purple and gold.

I’ve had many opportunities to listen to speak and speak with JA. His brief talk today was typical of his public presentation skills. I agree that his suit looked like it fit him today. 04-cheers

CK? What more needs to be said. JMU will miss him. He lacks the brilliant sense of humor and timing of Carrier, but CK is a consummate professional in money matters. CK is not only well liked and comfortable in representing JMU’s interests before elected members of the GA, they trust him. When CK speaks, people listen. He’s reliable and honest. I’ve shared this thought before on some other thread, I believe CK’s tenure at JMU may well be (all things considered) even more consequential and impactful to JMU’s development than Ron Carrier.

Yeah this presentation was all about finances and needed a financial guy to do it. He did a good job.

Alger looked great. It was exactly what I would expect from a President introducing a discussion around sports and athletic finances (aka kind of niche topics for his level). Going scripted was smart and honestly I don't think he could have done a better job. ODU President went rogue a little and had an awkwardly timed joke land flat. I imagine Alger would been getting skewered if he had done the same. Obviously the two were in different roles today so that should be considered as well.

I have only quickly said hi to CK at random events and think I have only really seen him give a speech a couple times; but holy smokes was I impressed today. Maybe it was the occasion adding to it, but the guy almost gave me chills. The accent. The lack of prepared speech. The off the cuff self deprecating comments regarding the numbers, which somehow made it seem like a casual discussion while also exuding confidence that JMU had done serious diligence. It was perfect.
