I think Kelly will grow on you when matched against a truer big. He looked better in the 2nd half. The freshman big will be good in time, I can see that he has tools. Samb did not get much run but he looked like an interesting player with some good size that could potentially do some good things. Baker should be able to do things out there.

That is the defensive identity. But getting the players to go all in with the pressure, deflections, turnovers and fast breaks is what it will take to gain that identity. Have to remember this is new to every player on the roster, even those from last year when we didn't have the depth and players to really press.
I saw glimpes of it in the second half and so did Siddle. He obviously pushed them at halftime to crank up the pressure. If you recall, Keatts cranked it up so much we were in foul trouble all the time while he was here. But there was a tradeoff of steals and causing TO's for the fouls. That at least set the identity on defense and the players got better at the pressure and the foul count came down.
I like the distribution of minutes, and that will allow the players to go all out when they're on the court. Our depth is going to be our greatest asset this year.

Can’t wait to see what the look like vs some real comp, they very well may not have wanted to show their hand too much tonight. We will see soon enough!

First half: I'm thinking OMG it's going to be a long season
Second half: Yes! This is starting to look like Run, Shoot, Defend!
Nice debuts for many of the transfers--all three freshmen impressed! Sims looked smooth and Okauru was a bit more in control. Shykeim seemed to be moving faster than last year. Some really good things! But Francis Marion was scoring too easily in the paint. It's going to be fun to watch this team develop!!
