Pettiness..I remember CAA voted to substantially raise the exit fee when GSU began flirting with the SBC.

Somewhere along the way people and institutions forget this is all about the student athlete.

Thanks! That's some salty B.S...I believe the goal is to have USM, ODU, and Marshall playing all sports next season, and JMU playing Olympic sports.

If memory serves me right APP was banned from the FCS playoffs the year we started our transition. Correct me if I am wrong.

Wow seriously? Yeah, I'd say let y'all go ahead and play in the SBC now versus having to wait another year if the CAA is gonna pull this crap.

That's correct. Coastal was as well. It's a bit petty by the league to ban them from conference championships as well though.

Very terrible move, however did JMU vote to do this to other schools when they left. Very curious

I think that's because during the first year of the transition you can have more than the 63 scholarships.

We were banned from CAA championships when we announced we were leaving.

RE: CAA to ban JMU from championship play
Isn't this CAA policy? I remember it applying to us and ODU after we announced our moves. (I'm afraid the only sport I really paid attention to for this was MBB, although I'm pretty sure it applied to ODU for football, too, even though they took an extra year for that transition.)

EDIT: To be clear, I think it's a dumb policy that should be ended.

With them doing the same thing to ODU in 2013, who didn't see this coming. Short sighted on the CAA though. Athletics is suppose to be about the student athlete and not the university or conference.

Correct, it's part of the normal transition process and expected. What the league's do is on top of that. The Big South made some moves against Coastal - I think moving some conference championships we were supposed to host.

RE: CAA to ban JMU from championship play
Yeah like Benny said, being ineligible for playoffs is due to extra scholarships while transitioning. That'll be the case for JMU football next year. The ban from conference championships and autobids is due to pettiness over leaving.

I don't know whether or not JMU voted in favor of doing this to schools who left previously but do know it was done.
