Didn't see any "compelling" reasons
PTJR asked on the Sun Belt board for the compelling reasons to get rid of UTA and LR. In 16 hours there have been very few responses. I did not find any of them to be very "compelling". I doubt it means much, but I certainly don't see masses of fans, with pitchforks, demanding the expulsion of LR and UTA.

I do think the argument of us not complying with the minimum number of sports is a problem. I don’t see why we can’t pick up tennis again or men’s soccer or something that we already have facilities for to be in compliance. [/i]

Seems like it would be a whole lot easier and cheaper in the long run to add back a couple of sports than it would be to find a new conference, which well might entail entry fees. Also, the University can use all the students they can get!

I don't know anything about entry fees and really hadn't thought about it. I guess the MoValley may well have a fee to join. I do believe conferences like the Southland and Ohio Valley, who are desperate for new members, would waive any entry fees. If the Atlantic Sun loses teams to CUSA they may waive them as well. No clue what the Summit would do, but I think they would be happy to have us.

Arkstfan posted in the thread recently to further point out what I had said earlier. Eastern Members were already fussing about having non football schools in the league and Western Members got frustrated when you guys added Wrestling instead of another SBC Sport, and stopped protecting you.

You might have made it longer had Texas and Oklahoma not started realignment going again. Once it became clear we had the ability to expand into Virginia, it was certain how this would end.

Interesting info. I thought wrestling was a strange add. Yes, it was paid for by a donor, but will he support it forever? Maybe it will eventually get fan support, but the way Little Rock supports our other sports, I wouldn't bet on it.

I feel like that ship has sailed. If they have decided to push us out, saying we are going to add a sport or two, in a couple of years is not going to change anything. Hope we are making a major effort to study our options.

Confidence in the leadership out on South University Avenue isn’t running real high right now!

Well, they are awfully quiet. Maybe that is a good thing in this situation. I keep wondering what UTA is thinking. I have looked, but can't find a UTA athletic message board.

I did see a post by a Texas State fan that UTA was going all in to find a basketball centric league, which I took to mean the Mo Valley. That combined with the statement made to you by the staff member at LR that we weren’t on the same page as UTA is very concerning to me.

UTA's leadership has openly said they are exploring their conference options.

I really don't need an announcement from our leadership to know we are exploring our conference options. I don't think they really have a choice.

Our leadership doesn't seem to care a lot about athletics. I don't believe all this will turn out too good for us. To me it seems the best answer is to get a basketball league to pick us up as a package deal with UALR, we will make great travel partners, we are similar in a lot of ways. Oh well I wish you guys luck

I've been saying all along I hope we go somewhere as a package deal. It would be great if it was the MoValley, but I would find the Summit League much more palatable if UTA went there with us. Good luck to you guys as well. It will be interesting to see what happens.
