LOL, we'll be in the same conference.
Man, those early mornings are messing with Deez's brain. I assume he meant Libiddy Bibiddy.
Fans has been fantasizing of FBS for so long they are still in the "pinch myself to make sure it isn't a dream" phase. It will take a few more weeks to acclimatize.

I was unclear. I meant Richmond rotates their FBS games among JMU, UVA, Tech, & ODU.

Do you think JMU will be playing ODU next year or is their schedule already set and stoned?
I don't think so. ODU is trying to get a SBC schedule next year, so our current CUSA schedule will be trashed. We currently have a nice 4 game OOC schedule with UVa, VaTech, ECU, Liberty. I guess it depends on the SBC and if we get 8 conference games. ODU in the transition year had a FCS/FBS mix.

They didn't have any home FBS games in 2013
2013 (8-4)
H: Howard, Citadel, Albany, Liberty (FCS), URI, Campbell
A: ECU, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Norfolk St, Idaho, UNC
Their first FBS home game was 2014 non-conference against EMU.

JMU will have a tougher schedule than ODU had. JMU is trying to have a FBS status and already has NSU, Louisville and Weber. Guess it depends on what help the SBC can give. It's tough scheduling as an independent in transition, but it's only one year. Good time to start a 2 for 1 with a P5.

SBC is seeking NCAA approval to allow JMU to play a full SBC schedule next year and for it to count as a conference game. Whether it happens depends on getting NCAA approval and whether or not CUSA allows ODU, Marshall, and USM to leave a year early.

That is gold standard OOC scheduling. Hopefully, JMU will be able to make that happen after the transition. Both in-state P5’s then 2 G5’s in-state plus border state. Va Tech and Liberty at home. Good gets for ODU and well done by your AD.
The OOC schedule is what will make FBS everything it is cracked up to be. The sun Belt will have a mixed bag of some good games and some crappy games.
We can imagine what a home game vs Va Tech would look like in the Burg. Pandemonium.

Tidewater is a huge recruiting area. I would be shocked if JMU can get the same caliber of schools to come to Harrisonburg as ODU can get to come to Norfolk.

Aside from the obvious VA schools I'd also love for any of these teams to come to BFS
P5: Pitt, WVU, NCST, Wake, UNC, Duke, UMD, Syracuse
G5: Temple, Ohio, Miami, ECU, Charlotte, WKU, MTSU
I also think it would be a great get to have a H/H with a team out west like SDSU, CSU, SJSU so our fanbase can get a trip to Colorado or California and our west coast alumni can get a relatively close by game. UNLV would be a cool road game as well.

If this falls through, expect JMU to have a mainly FCS hodgepodge schedule of meh and Louisville could be the lone FBS game. I hope coach Cignetti didn't speak too soon.
It's very last minute to be putting together an independent schedule as an FCS team.

There are games out there to be had, but the longer it takes to make the other decision the harder it will be.

Coaches aren't as worried about the fans with away games. They're worried about student/athlete's welfare. ODU had a game at UTEP and it took them a day and a half to get back home. Look at where the coaches recruit, that's a good place to play on the road.

The way you hear the SBC talk its not a matter of if, but when. However, this is the NCAA we're dealing with, they are not known for making fair decisions.

I dunno - there are a LOT of JMU alums, myself included, who'd love nothing more than to smite the "just missed uva" crowd. I know I'd fly in for that, more than just about any school I can think of.
