This would be great. Quick exposure/experience to a decent sized FBS slate and more $.

He he - I just asked that question above. Wonder if he’s reading the boards to know our questions.

Great news for scheduling. It might be easier to find FBS games than FCS ones given what happened in the Spring season.

Might be? How about will be. The thing is that it will attract middling FBS teams who struggle to get the 6 wins necessary to qualify for a crappy bowl and the perception of success.
A team can finish 2-6 in its conference, win 2 low level FBS games OOC, win a FCS OOC game, and win an OOC game against JMU. 6-6 and Bowl eligible. Phony and fraudulent, but bowl eligible.

JMU might have to schedule some of those games to fill the schedule next year, but I hope they are knocking on the doors of all the P5 teams first so we can help pay for the FBS transition using others’ money. Have our cake and eat it too. JMU could pay for all of the FBS transition costs ($5 million ?) with 4 P5 games in a season. Dare I say that they could actually beat some of them too? I know only a few are left without games next year, but just take the results of JMU’s last 3 P5 games while playing as a FCS team. That seems like the floor even as JMU transitions…
West Virginia 20 JMU 13
NC State 24 JMU 13
UNC 56 JMU 28

There is no reason to shy away or be skeered.
Mix that in with G5 games which , by the way, JMU has won the last 2 as a FCS team over SMU and dominating ECU.

As of today there are 4 P5 left for next year. Many more for 2023 including Alabama.
For 2022 Duke, Miami, Rutgers, Kansas
Let’s go. Bourne should be on the phone as soon as the press conference is over today.

Does the Sun Belt have a scheduling person that collaborates to get games for its conference members in order to help the conference profile?

Everyone here talking about football, but what happens to other sports, please? Basketball, baseball, softball, track, soccer, etc. There are some of us who are interested in those sports. Could we get some input? Does anyone even KNOW?

All other sports will have a full sun belt schedule starting July 1. There are a few sports that the sun belt doesn't sponsor, however (I believe swimming, field hockey, and women's lacrosse) which will need to find a new home before then.

All non football sports will be in Sun Belt for 2022. I’m sure we’ll hear about conference affiliation for sports Sun Belt doesn’t offer in the next couple weeks!

Swimming will probably go to the CCSA, as that's a catch all conference for swimming and diving (ODU is there for Men's swimming). Field Hockey and Lacrosse might be tougher. ODU is in the Big East and AAC for those respectively. JMU might find spots there although the Atlantic Sun could also be a possibility

Doesn’t the Big East offer women’s Lax, Field Hockey and S&D?

JMU does not offer men’s S&D, so if the Big East offers all three sports it makes the most sense that JMU will seek membership in the BE.

Yes they do.

FH - 8 team league
Lax - 6 team league
S&D - 6 team league

It would be great if all 3 end up in the same place...which will probably be a more NE conference given which sports tbey are. Looking at Big East, they do have all 3 - but none of them have football, which as we have seen, thats what drives the cultural bus now.

Thanks for the count on BE membership. I thought the Big East offered all three sports for women, but didn’t know the exact size of their leagues.

Getting all SBC members who offer these sports to compete in the Big East would make logical sense to me.

Was reading through the FAQs today on the transition.

Apparently we are now dropped from all CBSSports Net basketball broadcasts. Will Flo - be the only way to see any of the games (non-football)? Or if we are dropped from Flo can we broadcast home games on Madizone or immediately stream through SBC.

Basically, will there be any options for viewing our spring sports?

We need to take all 4 of those games in 2022 if we can, and I would say we would go 2 and 2, maybe even 3 and 1. JMU vs. the U. Holy crap. I know the U doesn’t mean much these days, but for us older alums, the U was something else back in the day and to have Jmu play them would be incredible.

Read that today as well. F the CAA dude. At this point maybe we can pull our broadcasts from flo and do it ourselves. I don’t know.

If Joey D and the CAA are already tearing up the media rights and broadcast contract with JMU, then screw it - the contract might as well be null and void. time to hit up ESPN and at a minimum get Home BBAll and other sports going forward on ESPN+ - don't care if that competes with FLO at this point. Get the Lawyers out, we'll need them until 7-1-22.

How are they allowed to reverse course on the media deal too? That's revenue that was already agreed upon.
The more time passes, the more I want the CAA to burn to the ground. Being vindictive is not how successful businesses succeed... it's how they fail.
If they are reversing on the media deal, then Madizone should get back up and running without the CAA having any recourse.
Seriously f*** you CAA.

I bet it’s contractual. I suspect it will be very one-sided until July. However, I doubt JMU will sue. Will leave that to individual player families.
