Is Fun Belt good to use or is that from outsiders being derisive?

It's funny.. Those of us joining seem chipper about it.

Those joining the other conference seem bitter.

I don't understand why.

The current AAC teams are not happy with the new additions because it confirms their "P6" status is gone.

The current SBC teams are happy because we once again added strategically. USM and Marshall are seen as regional G5 brands, JMU is a top FCS team with support, and ODU sort of reminds me of TXST. Football is forgettable but the other sports are pretty good. Both should be turning around one of these days. Just glad it wasn't just grasping at markets and instead was well supported teams.

Agree . . I am good with Fun Belt. ESPN uses it to market its product and who among us does not like a fun Football game?

WELCOME TO THE FUN BELT !! 04-cheers

ODU is not content at being TXST in football though. We will be back soon. Count on it. In other news, instead of the AAC being Pow6er, they just became P-USA, and will face all the same issues Judys conference had, with the exception of not having Judy.

The AAC is setting itself up to be as disjointed as CUSA was. They all seem to be looking out for only themselves and here seems to be like a big family.

If, and when, ODU wins the SBC East they will be a very, very good football team :)

I don't doubt it. I'd like to think we aren't content either but we seem to be stuck in a deep hole we dug ourselves.

Well, us that were already here, are happy about growing our family and bringing in new blood that have something to contribute to our little conference. I assume y'all are happy about getting out of a bad relationship, and moving on to something better. Mutually beneficial. The old AAC members are glum about losing their best teams and replacing them with someone they aren't thrilled about and having their status knocked down several notches. The new guys coming in might be turned off for not being welcomed with open arms and having a two level media deal where they aren't equal partners with their conference mates.

One difference is this board welcomed the new teams. Including game threads. AAC did not. A lot of their fans said keep that stuff on the CUSA board.

I like the term Fun Belt.

ESPN has been using it for a few years now, and many sports personalities also use it. It seems to have stuck.

Its like when Marshall made its IA jump, no one in the MAC wanted Marshall because they knew what was about to happen. Ohio's coach at the time Jim Grobe (Later Wake Forest coach, Huntington WV native) even said "We just let the Fox in the Hen house".

The AAC leftovers thought they had left some of their undeserving schools behind and escaped being in a conference with newbies (Charlotte/UTSA) and in under a decade they are right there now. You'd not be in a good mood either.

The Spaghetti Sauce fan is real touchy about it. I think I hurt his feelings yesterday when I told him they weren't going to be the next UCF.. How they never sniffed the Top 25 nor beat a Top 25 opponent.

They paid a lot of money just to be stuck back in CUSA from a decade ago LOL

We'd be bitter too if the whole college football world was laughing at our conference for inviting us. Then on top of that, a conference you thought was way beneath you invited three teams you thought you left behind and another you thought was beneath you and gets the opposite reaction. All while they're getting just as much media money as you because your new conference is gonna treat you like second class members.
