Interesting post on the UMass message board
I did some checking and the poster, Michael Traini, writes for their 247 Sports site. So he is a little more than just some random message board poster. This is likely just his opinion about what CUSA will do, but it was interesting coming from someone in the Northeast-

I'm interested to see who the 8th team is to get to that bar, would likely have to be another FCS move up. Once that happens I think UMass and UConn coming in as football-only members to get to 10 seems like it would square everything up. Also I'd look for the Sun Belt schools that don't play football Texas-Arlington and Arkansas-Little Rock to move to this new C-USA as well. Adding those two along with UMass/UConn for football would give the league 10 schools in everything they'd sponsor

This may be our best option. Probably not ideal, due to how spread out the teams are, but I would be quite happy with this. Some close rivals (LaTech, UTA, and Jacksonville State) and some teams with a good basketball tradition (LaTech, UTEP, New Mexico State). It's still a long way from happening, but as fast as things are moving who knows.

I wouldn't mind facing UTEP.
