Huff is learning and that is an important part of being a head coach. You could have Chip Lindsey who just keeps doing the same crap over and over again.

Could ESPN had something to do with fees being waived? Maybe ESPN is trying to get teams out of CUSA early and are in negotiations with Judy M.

The waiving of fees pretty much guarantees that the media deal is increasing to what has been claimed. Otherwise you take the entry fees to make up for reduced payouts across the board.

As things currently stand, you have two Flagships in each division (Read Strike Group). App State and Louisiana. Until two other programs actually play in the Conference Championship game, that's how it will stay.

About those exit fees in CUSA; is that money out of pocket or loss of conference revenue? There was something in that Marshall meeting that led me to believe it was the loss of revenue from the conference.

I'd think you have to go sport for sport, when talking conference flagships. Unless the same schools are dominant in everything. For football I'd say App and Louisiana too.

Football: App State - Louisiana
Mens Basketball: Georgia State - USA? I'm not sure
Women's Basketball: GSU?
Baseball: Louisiana, Coastal (even if they've been down)
Softball: Pretty much everyone is quality. Louisiana is going to be obvious here
Soccer: Will be Marshall for now
Wrestling: App State (I know, Sun Belt doesn't sponsor wrestling)

Maybe we should make a more complete list.

For now? So anyone can just win a National Championship and then rank in the top 5 for multiple years here?

How in the world is USA not included for baseball? And why in the world are we bringing that childish CUSA argument to this board? Let that die with CUSA. We are stronger together.

How in the world is JMU not included for softball?

Also, JMU is in top four all time in NCAA wins for women’s basketball

Let's see...
1) You haven't played an inning of softball in this conference.
2) We have the nicest facilities.
3) And you don't have the softball history that Louisiana has. Our first coach, Yvette Girouard (ever heard of her?) was basically a softball pioneer in the South. Pat Murphy and Alyson Habetz (ever heard of them?) got their starts here. With the exception of 1998, we've made the post season every year since 1990 and hosted regionals 12 times, 7 super regional appearances (format started in '05), and 6 WCWS appearances. These numbers may be old but: 54 All Americans, 8th most all time in NCAA tourney appearances, and 13th most all time in NCAA tourney victories.

JMU has been pretty damn good lately, big congrats on that. I was rooting really hard for you guys in the WCWS this past year. But we are top dog in this conference until proven otherwise. Heck, maybe you guys can finally break our conference series unbeaten streak that goes back to St. Patty's weekend 2013.

And my apologies if the earlier comments come off as harsh, we've just seen other conference teams like USA and Texas St go on some really good multi-year runs with a great pitcher or two and then they kind of slump again. Not going to crown JMU as top in softball until ya'll are here for a few years and kick us off of our pedestal.

I don't think anyone was arguing JMU over Louisiana for softball. JMU has obviously had more success recently while Louisiana has more history and it's not even like you have to go way back for huge Louisiana success. I think it was more that multiple schools were listed for other sports but for softball the school that just went to the WCWS and has been to supers 3 of the last 5 years was left out. We haven't played in this conference yet, but Marshall hasn't played soccer in this conference yet either.

I mean, overall it's nitpicking over what seems like off the top of the head picks. But leaving out JMU softball shouldn't be done when it goes beyond off the top of the head. Softball should clearly be Louisiana and JMU.

I've wanted to ask this on the C-USA board, but didn't want to be a dick. Here I can ask it. What two years? This year and next? How about 2023-24, 2024-25? Since there is currently no TV contract . . .

RE: Marshall had entry fees waived
My take is the Sun Belt waived the entrance fees for everyone because they are probably negotiating to try and get everyone in by July 2022. I would much rather have a 9 month divorce proceeding than a 21 month divorce proceeding.

The last time Marshall was in the middle of conference realignment in 2003 when we accepted an invite to CUSA. We didn't leave until 2005. By the end of 2003, all of 2004 and half of 2005 things got really chippy and not just with fans but coaches and admin from other universities.

Yeah. It would make sense. The $2 million entry fee can be applied to our exit fee to leave early.

Can Marshall apply our mens basketball tournament credits towards our exit fees?

No. The NCAA credits are for conferences only. Marshall would simply forfeit their credits to CUSA. You’d only get the money if CUSA dissolved.

Memphis did. I don't see why we couldn't.

I thought I remembered them doing that.
