Sun Belt GOR
I’m just curious what the SBC grant of rights is. Word is the MAC is wanting to sign a 15 year GOR with MTSU and WKU. It sounds like there would be a new tv contract from ESPN for the additions. I wanted to see what other conferences that have made moves look like.

RE: Sun Belt GOR
Several months ago there was a bugaboo about a GOR in the SBC. Haven't heard much of it since. It was during the ESPN extension signing.

So if it is true then 10 years.

Has there been any mention of it extending with the new additions?

Nothing that I know of. However, I don't have any contacts in the AD at App. I know several media members both local and on the national level and honestly, I haven't asked even if they know.

If we truly do have a GOR I believe it would kick in with the start of the next contract which would be next season if I recall correctly.

It was mentioned not too long ago here that it isn't a true GOR but more like a commitment to ESPN. But maybe one of our resident insiders can give more information.

RE: Sun Belt GOR
GoR never made sense for G5s before because everyone in the G5 was looking to move, either to the next perceived as higher conference (MWC, AAC) or a P5 (B12). Now that there appears to be some parity amongst the G5,which should slow down people wanting to move conferences, it could be something to consider. Especially if it helps bring in some more money.
