RE: 2022 Coach Siddle Call in Show
On Sims" He's been running the team well"..... Mind boggling. He might be more stubborn the Keatts was. We dealt with it then for obvious reasons, the biggest being winning. Then he follows it up in regards to Shy" He's a natural scorer, he's better off the ball. Then proceeds to say when the game is on the line, they want the ball in his hands". Say what? If he's so good with the game on the line why the heck wouldn't you want it in his hands other parts of the game?
With CB's shows, he seemed lost when it came to these things. With Siddle it's worse, because he will die on the sword and double down on stuff that is obviously not working. And then completely contradict himself in the next sentence.

I'm willing to wait this one out on Sims. If this gets Phillips more FG attempts in the end, and reduces Sims attempts as he becomes more of a distributor rather than a shooter, i'm good. Sims was pretty much at the four until White showed what he can do. That took Sims off the floor. I'm not a big Sims fan, but he isn't useless. He's a good rebounder, good from three when he receives a pass and is getting better at driving to the bucket. This move allows Okauru, Phillips and Harvey to rotate around the 2/3 spots and keeps them fresh and out of foul trouble. It also allows Thomas to get more PT backing up Sims. What I don't like is that Sims is having to learn the position and learning to act like a QB in football and look for the open pass when he drives or gets a pick. I just haven't seen that turn into assists and the numbers don't lie.

This may be a do it until we lose situation. Jacksonville was a bad time to make the change and I don't see High Point as a good measure of how this will work in conference play. If we can beat Campbell Wednesday with this move, i'll feel better. But I still want to see some quicker passing and decision making from Sims s PG.

You do understand what i'm saying right? In one sentence, he says he's better at the two and the next sentence he says he wants the ball in his hands. Sorry, but i'm not buying what he's selling.

I don't understand your thinking. Many teams want their 2 man to have the ball in their hands at crunch time. Playing off the ball doesn't mean you don't get the ball.

I understand what he was saying, as what Siddle was saying doesn’t lineup with how Phillips was utilized in OT. Sims was on the bench. Phillips was running the PG position. The ball was in his hands because he was bringing it up the court and putting it on the deck and getting himself in the paint at will. He wasn’t playing off the ball and receiving a pass. So, while he may be a “natural scorer”, he wasn’t doing it at the 2 with Sims at the 1. Sims was clutch with the game winner, be he was only on the court for 26 seconds in the OT period.

I agree that Sims should not be the PG. But Siddle did just what he was saying. He put the ball in Phillips' hands at crunch time. Whether it was at the point or the two. Jordan was sometimes used that way. And LeBron has been used that way. Still, I agree that Shy and Thomas should be the ones sharing the point. I guess it's going to come down to the old saying, it's not how you start, but how you finish.

RE: 2022 Coach Siddle Call in Show
Sims has shown he has a better handle than I thought he did, so in that aspect, i'm impressed. If he can get his head up and make some good passes, at 6'6" he could be an asset in that position. That also gives us some additional size on the court along with White and Baker. Sims, Okauru, Harvey, White, Baker go 6'6", 6'4", 6'5", 6'6", 6'7". Thats allows us to rotate on defense and avoid big size mismatches.

There is logic in the Sims to PG move and hopefully Sims grows in to the position. Don't forget that we lose Okauru next year while Sims and Phillips will both be here next year. If this can work out, we will have Sims, Phillips, Harvey and White as potential starters next year, with Thomas as a back up PG ready to start his junior year.

Right! Literally completely contradicted himself in the next sentence. Shy is best with the ball in his hands, give it to him!
Recognize Siddle wasn't here Shy's freshman year, but we all saw how good he was all year with the ball in his hands.

I was hopeful that an edited Version would be posted where they filtered out the background noise so we could actually hear what was being said, haven't seen it. I've said it once, i'll say it again, from the Radio TV feeds to coaches shows etc, we have got to get better with technology. I've seen high school broadcasts with less technical issues.

is it just me, or does coach look a lot looser in the show. Making jokes etc... "Putting a shock collar on Shy's wrist to keep him from reaching" lol, " I don't know what he's talking about" with reaction to guys being beat up...

It comes on tonight on the Breeze FM at 7 pm.

Scribe usually goes over it on the Perch as well.
