Living in NE Ohio my whole life and being a Kent State alum, I must admit disappointment so far with the Browns and the Golden Flashes. I allowed myself to expect so much more from both.

The Browns are a mess. No starting offensive tackles, no starting running backs, a quarterback who looks like he might be out for awhile and we won’t mention Beckham. To make matters worse the defense is actually worse. If it keeps going south, it will be interesting to see what will happen.

RE: WMU
I'll agree that we haven't looked as good as I hoped. I think we have serious problems on defense and our O line is starting to become suspect. With that said, if you had to realistically pick each game at the beginning of the season our record is pretty much what we would've guessed. TX A&m, Iowa, and Maryland loses. VMI and BG wins. UB and WMU toss up. Sitting at 3-4 (2-1) is where we probably should've expected to be.
One, hopefully, positive takeaway I had from yesterday was Floria looking good. The past two years we've had 2 wide outs and 2 slots receivers that were heavily involved. Last year Cephas and McKoy on the outside with Poke and Vance inside. The year before Carrigan and McKoy on the outside with Dixon and Price inside. This year we've had Cephas and Abram on the outside but only Johnson has done anything inside. Against UB it looked like Poke might be ready to step up but he was a non factor against WMU. One of them needs to step up, especially with our O line struggling. The running game will suffer with the O line struggling and we wont have time to hit the deep ball. So those slot receivers are critical.

Anti-Zip, losing to WMU didn't bother me that much, but giving up 64 points, 32 first downs and 648 yards was horrible. I had said last week that to win they may just have to outscore people in these college games today with such massive scoring and yardage, but they can't outscore people who score that much. Kent State should be able to score about 30 and even in the 40s against MAC competition, but their defense needs to start performing a lot better or a losing season or .500 season isn't completely out of the question.

Right, I get what you're saying and I completely agree we've played a lot worse than I'd hoped. I'm just pointing out that despite how we've looked, the outcome of every game has been about what they would've been even if we were playing how we hoped.

The Michigan schools aren't a sweep like they used to be. Losing at WMU, yea, I get that. WMU did put up 44 points in a win against Pitt; Currently in first in the ACC-Central. They can score.
What's upsetting about this loss and the way we lost. It's not what a team that goes into the season hollering "MAC Championship" should be doing. I see us winning at home, beating OU & Akron, going to a bowl game. Pretty much on-par with what an average mid-level program should do. The thing that is so "NE Ohio" cliché is that we don't always win the games we need to win. BABY WE NEED TO WIN THOSE GAMES!
Our home schedule here-out sucks too: A weeknight game and Thanksgiving weekend. Even the game in Summit County is a late November weekend.

Following KSU for 40 years MAC never does us any favors schedule wise .
We are only viewed as an “opponent “ Football powers in the conference , Miami, Toledo, CMU , NIU always get a break and we get short end.
I’ve studied our schedule over many years. Respect…. We don’t get it.
We have had home games before Thanksgiving weekend , no chance of getting a crowd.

Akron down 31-24 to WMU with 1:26 left in the 3rd. It looks like maybe Kent State does have the worst defense in the MAC.

Totally not surprised Zippy played WMU after letting Tom Arth go. Whether Arth was the issue or not, it had to feel nice for their players not having that cloud hang over them
