HOW commercial can it get?
Listening to ESPN Radio with Ole Miss-Auburn on the Ole Miss network.

Every Ole Miss first down is a BankX (don't remember the name) first down.
When they get in the red zone, its a company and presented by a 2nd company.

Its just REALLY REALLY bad. I don't know how Ole Miss fans can stand it.

Will we get that bad everywhere?

I'm waiting for conference sponsorships or rivalry game sponsorships. There could be more money made by rivalry games played on neutral site ooc games. Maybe football versions of a Big 12 SEC challenge by having a game between random teams in conference at a neutral site.

Please refer to this game by its proper title. The BU-TT bowl is among the most prestigious and refined rivalry games in all of college sports.

How soon before the jersey patch finds its way on college gear? Golden Flake would be on those Alabama uniforms faster than you can say John Metchie III.

I may be in the minority but annoying advertising drives me away from a product.

Soccer teams have the advertisers in prime space on the jersey.

The quality and experience have both taken hits in this level of the sport. You’re definitely not alone.

This is like Pitt changing Pat Narduzzi's title to the "Chris Bickell ’97 Head Football Coach"

I Could see schools doing something similar and honestly a recruiting bonus as members of the team even someone like the punter could potentially get a portion of the money. Maybe make it a standing Nil for members of the team. The players get a portion of the deal.

I've noticed this trend too but on TV (I don't listen to games on the radio but product placement seems a lot easier to do on radio than TV).

To answer your question: real bad. The rising number of commercial breaks on TV has actually made me watch less CFB this year than I can remember. There's no flow to these games, the commercials themselves are of poor quality, and the games take far too long.

The trend will get worse too because now various channels will shell out more money to get the TV rights and the commercials will be endless. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a split-screen of the game and different sponsors of each down side-by-side.

Yep, and it's not just that they're annoying - it's that they're annoying AND shown every commercial break.

FCS has a cool playoff system.

It’s not just you

Brands latching on to sports team is extremely effective - that's why it keeps happening more & more. It's free money for the Teams so they will push it as far as they can. Golden Flake gives $$$ to Alabama just to use the logo on the can - free money!

Yeah I know all about it, unfortunately NASCAR is the worst of them all at that.

Yeah, I guess NASCAR is an example. Think they do it so much its detrimental to the brands. You just tune out the patches because there are so many.

I wouldn’t complain if it weren’t for the fact they’re moving the door number over a bit too, it’s getting greedy.

RE: HOW commercial can it get?
I would be ok with every first down, every turnover, and every score being sponsored by some rando business *if* college football cut down on the length of each timeout and halftime, i.e. the number of commercials at each break, and cut the breaks enough that every (non-overtime) game ends in 3.5 hours or less.

College football games last longer than NFL games because the NFL limits the length of timeouts that cut away from the telecast. CFB telecasts are so out of control now that sometimes you check the score of a game that started 4 hours ago, and the game is only midway through the 4th quarter.
