Hey folks, we have some work to do. I was a proponent for the american conference, but they made some bad choices for us and I realize now this is perfect for us, the ODU fans. We can drive to away games, build rivalries. It's not completely perfect, but God, this has a lot of potential. Here's what us, the fans, ODU and its staff, our media and the sun belt need to work on.

We, the fans, need to get educated on our rivals. We are stepping into a much, much better league for football, soccer and baseball. I encourage you to watch a sun belt football game. Those stadiums are
packed and we need to work on getting our attendance back to where it needs to be. We need not be apathetic anymore. We have rivals and we need to understand this and we as fans NEED TO SUPPORT our teams and the students are doing their part by showing up in droves.

ODU needs to step up on their venues. We have a beautiful football stadium, but no bathrooms and snack places on the upper deck. UNACCEPTABLE!!! This needs to be addressed immediately by ODU. If you cannot physically move around like you used to, but still want to come to an ODU game and forced to be in the upper tier, ODU better damn well make sure you have bathrooms that are not a young person climb away, but accessible.

ODU needs to publicize their sports harder, after all this is Hampton Roads biggest sports attraction and we need to remind our neighbors about our step up. ODU, do not up the prices until you put a good product out on the field. If you want people there, you need to realize, people are getting hit hard in the pocketbook and wallets and you need to be smart about that.

ODU needs to start showing improvement in football, which I'm sure they will. This is basically starting from scratch again and we have to let them develop and our coaches have got to be on top of their game recruiting. Folks, we are getting a do over and we are getting in a up and coming regional powerhouse conference and we all need to act like it.

Last of all, sun belt, schedule these games right and you will be doing unbelievable stuff, even more than now. And sun belt, you have to step it up in basketball, a play in game in Dayton should never be on the docket. Put some of your football profits into building your basketball. I realize this is not the old sun belt, where you got 4 teams in, but there is no reason we cannot be a multi-bid league. Recruit and schedule better sun belt basketball coaches.

One more thing, let's really make this JMU thing a thing. Let's think out of the box and make some unique traditions start happening. I hear Appalachian State has 10,000 students regularly invested into going to games and we need to have ideas that are fitting for this league and us to take off with. Keep the parachuters and the ice cream and cake and I love the game day walk, but hey, let's get more going. We are entering the big time. The spotlight is on us. What are we going to do about it?

Thoughts, comments? Let's set up our home and stay awhile.

I would love to see a College Game Day come to our campus. I agree with everything you said. I like your thinking and your POSITIVE Passion for ODU.

Besides putting a winning product on the field, we need butts in the seats. When the North Endzone is updated and completed, the students need to be given the whole bottom section behind the the visitors bench. It would engage and entice more students to show up and stay. This is done at the God Almighty Liberty, and it is the one thing that impressed me about them.

I love my Monarchs, but something has got to be done with the band or lack there of. I know High Schools in the area with larger and more talented members. We are going into a conference that's big time football, and they have huge outstanding Marching Bands i.e. JMU Marching Royal Dukes. JMU marches 493 members.

Agree with almost everything. Including the band. It should be at least twice, if not three times that size.

30+ years of observation says our fans don’t support anything but winning teams in 3 sports and an occasional seasonal outlier. WBB games at the Fieldhouse used to be awesome. I always hated Scope for MBB but it did sell out a time or two against the Pukes. Early years at The Ted were special. FB obviously drew well the first decade. Win or else it will look like Eastern Michigan. Baseball when winning recently. FH won a national title when I was in school and never drew at all.
