Portland’s abortion ‘bereavement leave’ for employees
begs the question: Who died?

Quote:The city of Portland recently amended its bereavement leave policy to allow city employees to take paid time off following any kind of pregnancy loss, including abortion, “irrespective of whether deemed medically necessary.” The city council unanimously approved the change. Portland is the first city in the nation to adopt this type of policy.

If “bereavement” is frequently defined as a period of grief or mourning after the death of a family member or loved one, and “bereavement leave” is time off of work that is granted to employees to mourn that death, then this amended policy begs the question: who died?

Granting this type of leave following an abortion is a tacit admission of the humanity and family membership of the one who has been aborted — something abortion advocates almost never do.

I thought it was just a clump of cells not to be considered human, right?

Man I'm glad my old man decided to move from Monterey back to Memphis when that deployment ended. If we had stayed on the west coast I'd probably be a foaming at the mouth radical leftist by now.

Would this not be an admission that Abortion is killing a living human being?

Well, that makes no sense. Par for the course I guess.

Odd. I would've thought they'd be celebrating after killing their babies. I mean, they live for that stuff, right?

Seriously, though. Many women suffer emotionally after an abortion, even those who are anti-life (aka pro-abortion).

How to cope with depression after abortion

Quote:According to the American Pregnancy Association, common negative feelings include:
  • guilt
  • anger
  • shame
  • remorse or regret
  • loss of self-esteem or self-confidence
  • feelings of isolation and loneliness
  • sleep problems and bad dreams
  • relationship problems
  • thoughts of suicide

Well, when they decide to murder a child they should feel that way. Sadly, many leftists who are the most vocal advocates for abortion actually seem to feel good about celebrating and announcing their actions to the world. If they do feel any remorse they likely just attribute it to hormone changes and then move on.

But to the point the original poster made, why do they need bereavement for getting rid of a "clump of cells," as they think of the child?

Point is, even the most ardent pro-abortion woman after undergoing an abortion realizes deep down they just killed their baby. It's easy to demand the right to abort but it's something completely different to go through with one.

And this bereavement policy essentially recognizes the very argument made by Pro-Lifers, that is that abortion kills a human being.
