We are not "who we thought we were".......we are probably better than what we thought we were going to be.
That's exactly what will happen on this board. All the naysayers will come out and trash the team, players, and coaches.
I don't expect us to win out. It is a very rare feat in this conference for a team to go undefeated in MAC play. Then add to the fact that, as usual, we play a more difficult cross-over schedule than our fellow West division mates with two of the top 3 MAC east teams on the road.
Naysaying is what message boards are about. Are you saying you’ve never trashed any player or coaches over the last ten years or so?
I agree NIU won’t win out. And if it’s because of things we’ve been identifying as problems all year, yes, I will b*tch and complain. Remember, this is the same board who crucified Childers who was a freshman when he was our starting QB. I’m not into the Hammock fairy tale as some are. He’s a Mac coach just like all the others who is paid to win. Hammock has done a great job this year and now with having a 2 game lead and 4 games left, he needs to close this out.
My expectations are the same as they have been for the last 4 regime’s. I don’t flip flop my evaluation of the team by how much I personally like the coach.

RE: NIU-KENT STATE predictions!!!!!!!!
Rocky stepped up big time against CMU, but to put things in perspective - it's one game, CMU has one of the worst pass defenses in the MAC, and he still has a completion rate below 58%. So it's good to see, but it would be nice to see back to back games where the pass game is a serious threat. Of course, the WR have to continue to get open too. I do like most of Rocky's passes, they seem to have more zip a lot of times than most QBs we've had, maybe a tighter spiral.

Any word on Richardson, although that freshman kicker did well.
Disregard, saw Richardson on the depth chart. Should be good to go, but let's get TD's instead of field goals.

I’m a little concerned with containing Crum. In 4 MAC games so far he has accounted for 1,258 yards, 11 tds and 0 ints. He is the first of the 3 good Mac QBs we face down the stretch.

RE: NIU-KENT STATE predictions!!!!!!!!
While a very high-scoring game wouldn't surprise me, I'm feeling that we will run the ball down their throats and keep the Kent St. O off the field. So, I'm going with:
NIU: 31
Kent St.: 27

RE: NIU-KENT STATE predictions!!!!!!!!
Going to be tough. Crum is terrific. I would put him over 2 Eleby then 3 Plitt as # 1 in the top 3 QBs of the MAC as of now. Note: Bryant from EMU may deserve top 3… his stats are amazing so far this year.
Crum played well even during their brutal out of conference schedule, then has been on a tear in conference play.
Huskies will need to play their best. We will need another strong performance from Rocky. D needs to step up, fly around and disrupt a portion of Kent’s drives.
Should be high scoring MACtion.

I think the extra time off helped all of our players and the extra prep has them ready to go.

Watched Crum in one of the games. When he runs he doesn't go down that easy. Unusual for a QB not named Lynch.

RE: NIU-KENT STATE predictions!!!!!!!!
Let's calculate this...using our NIU stats and math background:
Google tells me the average number of plays for a team like NIU in a game is about 70. And I assume the Ds will be 'challenged' today and not perform so well.
Let's assume every 3rd play is a TD!!! So you need a point after, and kick off too. That's 5 plays per score. 70 / 5 = 14 touchdowns or 98 points!
Ok, the score will be:
NIU = 98 + 3 in OT = 101
KSU = 98
Now, I didn't say I passed those courses at NIU, only that I vaguely remember them. I may have even physically attended a class or 2 and not played pool at the Huskie Den, or fell asleep in the library..

Huskies Den is a holy landmark. That’s where I met my wife and became the man I am today (or should that be woman?).
