RE: OT - World Series
For me, the best part by far of Game 6 was running into Rice baseball alum Jimmy Comerota, now the Astros' Director of Corporate Partnerships. I had stepped away from my seats into the concourse just to work out some anxiety, and he happened to be walking the concourse for the same reason. It was great catching up/

Jimmy Baseball! Good memories!

My first words to him were, "Can you get out there and hit for us?" :)

I'm sure he would have loved to do just that!

Question RE: OT - World Series
Now here's something I can support the government shutting schools down for:

linky: Metro Atlanta school districts closed Friday for Braves World Series celebration

Several Metro Atlanta school districts have cancelled classes Friday in preparation for the Atlanta Braves World Series championship celebrations.

Masks not required. Tomahawk Chopping will be encouraged, though.

The Astros offer Carlos Correa 5 years, 160 million. That sounds like a lot but compared to recent contracts like Lindor (10 years, 341 million) or Rendon (7 years, 245 million), it is already being spun as a lowball offer.

I think it's safe to assume Correa won't be in Houston next year.

They're all the same $35MM/yr, but Correa simply offered a shorter term. Correa and Lindor are both 27; Ant is 31, but got his contract at 29.

Unless I am missing something:
Correa: 160M / 5 yrs = 32 M/yr
Lindor: 341M / 10 yrs = 34.1 M/yr
Rendon: 245M / 7 yrs = 35 M/yr

5 years is too short, but the Lindor deal is going to be a complete albatross...teams really shouldn't be offering position players contracts that go well into their mid-30s (~35 would be my limit).

RE: OT - World Series
Five years is about right. I bet those teams regret what they offered to Rendon and Lindor. Rendon did not even play this year because of injuries. Correa has been injury prone all his career with Houston accept for this year. Do not destroy the team for the future like the Texans did becuase of one greedy player.

RE: OT - World Series
I wouldn't say Deshaun Watson was greedy with his contract. He's the 4th highest paid player in the NFL (behind Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Dak Prescott). I also don't believe his contract situation is what has destroyed the Texans. They made numerous ridiculous trades long before his legal troubles ever came to light or his new contract was signed. You can call Watson many things if you want, but greedy for money isn't the first thing I think of.

Their future is definitely horrible though. As bad as Rice football is, Rice still has one more win than the Texans and Rockets combined, and it may take some time for those two professional teams to surpass the Owls in wins.

RE: OT - World Series
Justin Verlander's brother Ben (who works for Fox Sports) just tweeted out the news that Justin will re-sign with the Astros (1 year - 25 million, with an option for a 2nd year). Huge and surprising news, if true, for the Astros.
