They'd have to get on base first.

They actually got on base enough last night, as opposed to the night before. Last night, it was bringing them around that was a problem. They weren't a big base stealing team all year. They had 53 SBs, 27th in MLB, during the regular season.

Other than Tucker, who had a steal last night, and perhaps Altuve, who exactly do you expect to run? Brantley, Bregman, Alvarez, Correa, Gurriel, Maldonado, Greinke (who was on base with a hit last night)? Not a bunch of speed demons.

But I agree that situational hitting has been poor in Atlanta. If that doesn’t improve tonight, it’s over.

Edit: And give credit to the Braves pitching staff. Their bullpen has been lights out.

If Bregman is not benched or moved down the order, Dusty should be fired

Bregman batting 7th tonight, Correa 3rd.

In terms of the steals, the Astros didn't have a ton in the regular season but Tucker has 5, Gurriel 2, and Altuve and Brantley 1 each in the postseason (among the starters). If it's a close game, they have several guys on the bench with real speed (Siri for sure, but McCormick is another that I'd pinch run with if one of the slowpokes gets on base late).

And Correa hits into a DP in T1 while Bregman doubles in a run in T2.

Of course, Stros gave up another Grand Slam in B1. SMH.

RE: OT - World Series
You gotta give credit to Greinke for pinch-hitting (and getting a single on the 1st pitch)!! He has more hits in the World Series now than Alvarez (and as many as Bregman).

5-4 Atlanta and still just in the 4th. A lot of baseball in this game to come. And so far, Dusty Baker's moves are working out decent.

Never thought I’d say this, but Dusty is looking like a genius tonight.

Or maybe he’s been reading the Parliament?

And how about light hitting Maldonado? 3 RBI tonight on a Sac Fly, bases loaded walk and a single.

Question RE: OT - World Series
Good game, toguh loss, but was prepare for it after we got the first two at home. Half of the metro truned out, it wasn't quite times square but it ssure was fun. Didn't really see any masks even on the security and staff that were working. Oh, well. Guess people are tired of the BS.
Disagreed with Sniotker not PH for Tuker in Bot2nd and trying to get more from him. He'd barely pitched this year due to injury and I thought him going 2 for mour depeleted pitching staff and only giving up 2 runs was as much as you could ask. really felt awesome when Duvall hit that GS in fiorst. Thought it was just going to be another fly ball. Atmosphere was electric, and felt kinda bad for Hourston to have it start like that. To their credit, the Astors didn't quit or feel tired, but ame right back a bit at a time. When you think about it, excepting the Grand Slam in the first, the Astors won the rest of teh way 9-1.

Houston gains a lot of momentum now going back to their hoke park, not having to come back on the road anymore, coming back from a big early deficit and now only needing two wins in a row instead of three. Considering the split of the first two games I'd definitely be happy with taking 2 of 3 at home against a very good Astors team and still being up. This was Game 5, the one that Charlie Morton would have started had he not got hurt. If he had been there, far more likely this thing would have been over. But you play what you're dealt, not what could have been. Astors did their job and got it back to one more game at least. Good for baseball and the fans. Speaking of fans, was really funny to hear so many chants of about Brandon, all through the night and the chop coming from folks who showed up to celebrate that was extremely diverse. Good to see regular folks don't fall for the ignorant censorship clowns stuff. This city is a lot of fun, and more together of a community comfortable with its diversity than the most of the misinformation-spewing media wants people to believe. Go Braves, chop, chiopp, choppity. And should the Astors prevail, well, it has been a heck of a great season either way and two great teams to finish with, and no Yankers or Dogs anywhere around! Go Braves, and Go Glenn! Hope both can get a win on Tuesday!

Interesting to see so much Tomahawk Chopping and hearing the chant in the crowd at Houston when they show it on TV.

Much as I would have liked to win it at home on Sunday, something extra satisfying to know that the last sounds that will be echoing through Minute Maid Park and in the city of Houston all winter into the spring are the Tomahawk Chant and Chop of the 2021 World Champion Atlanta Braves! Congrats, fellas, you certainly deserved it and beat three of the best teams in the playoffs this year to earn it!

RE: OT - World Series
Tough loss in Game 6, but Atlanta got hot at the right moments. And the Astros kept using that horrible formula of pulling the starter super early and putting all their hopes on a bullpen game.

It's been an amazing run for Houston - probably the most impressive 5 year run of any Houston professional sports team ever (the late 70s Oilers weren't more successful than the Astros). But you do wonder if this is the beginning of the end of this run, with free agents like Correa, Greinke, Verlander, Maldonado, etc.

Well, the sides I cheered for went 1 for 2 last night. Astros lost, but Glenn Youngkin won. In the grand scheme of things, I would hope that the win is more significant.

Crane did nothing to improve the starting pitching, so not surprised. The better team definitely won.

That's an opinion not based in reality.

(1) How could Crane "improve their starting pitching" when their best pitcher, McCullers, was out for the ALCS and World Series?

(2) The Astros scored a COMBINED 4 runs in their 4 losses. You could have had 4 Cy Young winners start for Houston in those games, and maybe have gotten 1 win.

One legit starting pitcher. No way you are going to win a World Series.
