Navy takes an upset win to show they are playing better than people would expect from their record. Did the committee notice?

What is your prediction?

I’m just not sure. I’m not going to be surprised if it’s anywhere between 3-6.

I'm thinking closer to 4-5. I think if OSU is impressive this week, the Committee will find a way to use Navy against us as a "playing better right now" argument, and they are absolutely putting Bama and Georgia ahead of us. UC/Oklahoma is a toss-up to me, thus the 4 or 5.

They'll put is in at 4. They have to put us in or they will lose all credibility that "it's open to everybody" narrative.

However, at 4 if you slip up at all... you're out.

I’m still not sure what criteria they use. I was reading an article and it wasn’t even clear. It just gives them the option to put Ohio State in every year lol. Last year from the start you knew they were gonna do everything they could to get them in.

Okay, say UC wins convincingly today as we should (reasonably) expect.

Then Georgia gets ambushed @ Florida.

Is UC the new #1 tomorrow in the polls? In that case, the CFP committee would be apoplectic.

I'm guessing that the polls will look like this:

AP:
#1 Georgia
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Cincinnati
#4 Ohio State (with a win against Penn State Tonight)
#5 Oregon (or #4 with a OSU loss)

Coaches:
#1 Georgia
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Ohio State (with a win vs. Penn State)
#4 Cincinnati or Oregon
#5 Oregon or Cincinnati

CFP:
#1 Georgia
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Ohio State (with a win vs. Penn State)
#4 Oregon
#5 Cincinnati
#6 Wake Forrest

Moot question. Georgia ain't getting ambushed.

But I like the wishful thinking!

Forgetting about undefeated Michigan State, who could easily sneak into the Top 6 as well now that they'll have a Top 10 win too. I think there is a very realistic scenario where we aren't in the Top 6 on Tuesday.

Throw Oregon on the list of teams that might be above us on Tuesday as well. It looks like the goal of the bottom third of this conference is to torpedo our CFP hopes. It doesn't even seem like they're trying to win, it just seems like they're trying to play a sloppy game.

I think we'll start 5th. Do yourself a favor and try to find enjoyment in this season that's not predicated on the playoff committee. This is supposed to be fun. I'm not going to start getting upset about 19 point road wins.

The only team torpedoing our CFP hopes and seeming like they're not trying to win is us. The whole team and coaching staff looks like they've packed it in since the ND game.

The coaching staff poorly prepared the team for two straight gimmick offenses. Since the ND game, this staff has also put together dominant performances against Temple and UCF, the latter of whom is looking much better as the season progresses.

I feel like I should remind everyone that Fickell is more Tressel than Urban. I'm sure he wants to win big too but many of the decisions we saw today were about winning the game. While the past two weeks have sucked, we still haven't been in danger of actually losing this season.

Even more so on the road where getting away with a win is the only thing that matters.

If Notre Dame takes care of business against UNC they will move into the AP Top 10 - they're #11 now. We beat them on the road so that remains a strong win on our resume. If they win tonight then I'll be shocked if we're not ranked at least #4 in the CFP.

Where do you think Alabama is they were already 3rd in both polls so they are not going away.

I hate to say it but based on the last two weeks we do not deserve to be top ten.

Because they didn’t destroy two team on the road. Still have a road win a Notre Dame which is still better just about every team in consideration. Who has a road win over a top 15 team? Oregon does but they lost to Stanford. Ohio State doesn’t, Bama doesn’t, Georgia doesn’t, MSU, doesn’t.
