Click bait at it's worst. A thread talking about it on another board that is no different than the countless threads here talking about 1,000 different scenarios.

You need 8 schools. Without yanking up someone from FCS, it could be finished.

They'll hobble together FCS teams to collect that exit fee money. UTEP, LA Tech and FIU are going to need all the cash they can get, because the TV money will be rough. They might have to pay a network to air these games.

An article from five days ago might as well be considered ancient.

I really hope WKU and MTSU can get in the MAC. It would be good for MTSU/WKU as well as the MAC.

WKU has a chance.

MTSU is stuck.

Sorry

Some of you smart aleck posters can go jump in a hog pond. I am going to start listing and condemning you and will do whatever it takes.

IF I GET BANNED -- who cares?

Continuing these jabs and snide remarks against the five left (who did nothing wrong) is classless!

It's a frustrating time for Conference USA. Western Kentucky doesn't deserve this. None of those schools left behind deserves what's happening to this conference. I don't know what is in store for CUSA, but the options are few and none of them are great.

if you don't want to pay exit fees, then don't agree to them

The current situation is why I was a big advocate of taking all the Belt, CUSA and AAC schools and coming up with 3 regional conferences. You had 32 programs to work with and could have made 3 good, competitive conferences.

Once the AAC took 6 instead of 2 or 4, it was going to fall apart. If anyone is to blame it’s them for over expanding. I really sorry for the 5 left. I know how it felt to join CUSA and the watch 7 teams go away.

There is no “traction” other than some WKU and MTSU fans hoping.

You have no idea what’s being discussed between WKU and MAC officials. Maybe nothing, maybe quite a bit. The bottom line is you have no idea. It would be kept under wraps at this point.

CUSA has to get to 8 full FBS members to stay a FBS conference, but they only have to find 7 D1 basketball schools to stay a multisport conference. That way they continue to collect the exit fees.

Yes, if they could only get to 7 they would lose FBS conference status, and at least temporarily the remaining teams would have to go as FBS independent, but they would get to split the exit fees. That would give any FCS invites times to get to full FBS status.

Alternative is to go independent without the fees.

As we've watched, nothing is kept under wraps. There is typically smoke. There is no smoke north of the Cumberland Parkway.

The only thing I’ll say to that is no one saw the 6 to the AAC until it was almost a done deal

Someone who quoted NCAA regs on the re-alignment board said that:

Once an FBS conference falls below the eight FULL TIME FBS member requirement they get a two year probation period before being stripped from FBS status.

That two year "clock" would not begin till June 2023.

Of course I am NOT an expert on this-- bit it CAN be found somewhere online.

Arrogance will never allow that to happen. The Power 5 Conferences don't have this much overlap because they are much smarter.
