The best thing you can remember about the La schools is:
1. If you’re using a hyphen STOP immediately
2. If you’re using a city STOP immediately
If you follow those 2 simple rules chances are u won’t be wrong.
In our media guide issued by the school ULL is specifically asked not to be used. Louisiana, UL, Ragin Cajuns and Cajuns

Just don't use Appy (looking at you Marshall fans) or pronounce our name as App-a-lay-shun and we'll be good.

I used that once. The dude that responded seemed genuinely pissed. Haven't done it again.
Hey stink bugs. Do y'all like or hate "GaSo" when talking about that place?
I have zero feelings about it either way.

We don't refer to ourselves as ASU, to be clear. ASU is in Arizona. App is in North Carolina.
Goat Humpers can be inserted for all of the above...

ASU was used regularly until we joined conferences with Arkansas State.
Using 'Neers is a good way to stir up a civil war between younger and older App fans lol
The biggest sin related to our name is pronouncing it Appalayshun ?

Ha, don't know why I didn't think about that. Yeah sometimes you'll hear the s dropped, especially for things like "on the Duke 40 yard line" which obviously is no issue for most like "on the Monarch 40 yard line" but just sounds off when you do it for us because of, well, Duke.

Never call us TSU (Texas Southern University) or Texas State University-San Marcos (we are the only Texas State).
Southwest Texas or SWT can be a term of endearment or an insult depending on the context clues.
That is sooooo over, wish folks would just let it go.

Louisiana, or UL, those are the two I prefer…
Ragin Cajuns or Cajuns or good…
Most ULM, LaTech LSU fans use ULL.. I really don’t like it..
If you really have a problem with Louisiana or UL, call us Cajuns..
Just me….

I've seen a few people occasionally get a little irked by anyone saying "Madison" instead of JMU or James Madison, but I don't really get that... We used to have "MADISON" across the front of our jerseys and personally I like that but I'm probably in the minority there. It does bug me when ESPN or any other network puts "J. Madison" or anything along those lines on the scoreboard instead of JMU but that's something you see from streams and TV broadcasts rather than from fans.
As for our rivals we're being reunited with, they prefer either ODUh, Old Dirty University, Old Dumb University, or "Old, Dumb, and Ugly".
Haha. ESPN used to list us as OLD DOM on their scoreboard so you have that one too. Ol' Dirty is actually acceptable and embraced as well.

ULL is not official and it has nothing to do with dislike for our home city. Most residents LOVE Lafayette. UL is just easy. Cajuns or Ragin Cajuns is cool. Louisiana if you want to make LA State, latex, and ULM guys angry.
BTW I have used Neers before, I thought it was good. I get confused with the Georgia schools and have use GaSt and GaSo before.
