I don’t want CUSA killed off. If it happens then so be it but not wishing ill on them or the remaining programs. Who knows, in 10 years we could see CUSA surge ahead of the Sun Belt. I hope not but you never know.

CUSA should hear good source of OOC wins, really no different than the last seven years.

I want us to bring in WKU and MTSU to fill in geographical holes in the south and make it so we can play every team in the conference in 2 years.

That’s right. They should look to the Sun Belt for how to do that.

Every 2 years? How’s that possible if we had 16?

So go to 18....

Every 2 years? How’s that possible if we had 16?

Guessing pods instead of divisions? Let's see:

* 3 games within your pod
* 2 against each of the other pods?

That seems complicated plus I don't know if anyone wants nine conference games.

Best way to do it with 14 is to not have immediate home-and-homes with the other division. So for ODU (or any East Division team) it might look like this:

2023: USA, @Texas State
2024: UL, @Southern Miss
2025: Troy, @ULM
2026: Texas State, @Arkansas State
2027: Southern Miss, @USA
2028: ULM, @UL
2029: Arkansas State, @Troy
2030: USA, @Texas State

Every class plays every opposite division team once, not counting the championship game, and plays one of them twice.

I don’t want them dead either. Someone needs to the very bottom of the G5 and they are the perfect fit for that role.

Some would say the same regarding ODU But to me it’s completely different situation with them

I agree that ODU is a completely different situation than WKU and the last conference realignment SBC defectors. They had a home and that home was not good enough for them so they voluntarily left that home and knew that their leaving would seriously harm the home they were leaving.

Enough with the Crocodile Tears they can fight, scratch, and survive as we did back then to keep their Conference alive or not . . their choice once again.04-chairshot

RE: Please Kill CUSA once and for all
First post from a herd fan here, want to first say thank you for taking us on in a very unstable time for us, you have endured a lot over the years, but staying steady and you built a football conference that is passing up many others. Look forward to some great rivalries and hope to build up basketball competitiveness as years go on. I do think the league should look into expanding to 16 at some point.

First choice is ECU and UAB, I think we should go hard at UAB and ECU next time AAC gets raided. Would hold all the remaining G5 members of the old CUSA east. Would be a bus league for both and holds all their G5 rivals. ECU (SoMiss, Marshall and Appy St) UAB (SoMiss and Troy) would be the best league in G5 for sure. Just need Memphis, SMU and/or USF to jump to P5 and AAC tv package to be cut and I think we have a chance.

Backup plan is WKU and MTSU, they fit regionally and haven competitiveness across football and basketball.

I was hoping we would stop at two. Not because I dislike the four schools we are inviting but because I feel 12 is the optimal number of schools for a conference. I never want to see us go past 14 (even though we may be at 16 if UALR & UTA stay).

You would rather stay at 14 if you had the opportunity to add someone like ECU and UAB?

If you have to go to 18, split into 3 divisions of 6, and have a 4-team playoff - petition NCAA?

I love how the fans of the conference that got so big and bloated they wanted out now want us to take in strays and become even bigger and more bloated.

I know what you’re trying to do…you’re trying to back door your way into the east coast conference you people wouldn’t shut up about. If we rescued WKU and MTSU the conference would get too big and split and you’d ultimately get your wish. It’s like having sh***y annoying neighbors, moving out to get away from them, and leaving a forwarding address so they can find you and bother you some more.

Absolutely not to 16 or 18.

The only reason the SBC should ever EVER look at any more additions is if another conference comes calling for Texas State and they take the offer. In which case we’d have room for 1.

We wanted out because of leadership and the selections the last time around.

Well either way, you don’t get to bring everyone with you. No G5 has ever gotten that big and survived. Baby steps.

1. I am happy that the Monarchs are coming to the Sun Belt.
2. I don't know what will happen with the remaining C-USA teams, but:

a. Anyone of them would have jumped at going to the AAC.
b. Anyone of them would have jumped at coming to the Sun Belt.

3. So, I have no remorse for C-USA as a whole or for any of the individual remaining teams.
4. There could be more defections, and the conference could fold the tent.
5. There could be good, solid additions, and the conference will thrive.
6. Either way, all is good, and time has a way of healing all wounds.
