What is your definition of successful?

Well not losing to 1 win Tulsa, 1 win Temple, and almost losing to 1 win Ark St would be a good start. I think 7 wins would have been acceptable this season based on how slaw the schedule was and a new QB. The truth is that we are far more talented than a majority of teams in this conference at most positions.

I guess norvell wasn’t successful either as he lost to both

Oh I must have missed Norvell doing that all in the same year while having a team full of talented players. Your blind devotion is admirable, but you have all the telltale signs of "Happy Clapper" disease.

And you have Whinny and crybaby syndrome….

They’re not going to fire Silverfield. We weren’t going to win that game without Henigan. And mistakes cost us badly in our other 3 losses.

But he has had his share of bonehead coaching decisions.

Was the Drew column before or after he told us we HAD to hire Porter? I'm getting my Calkins Coach Whisperer timeline confused.

Calkins was getting his Scott Drew info from George Lapides.

i have no alias.long time fan and TBH i forgot about this message board until this past year. I decided to correct illinformed posters that talk gibberish and give a different oppinion on the subject matter. Since I dont agree with everything they say and give a positive spin- I am getting roasted.

I dont agree with every decision RS has made but I dont agree with calls Penny makes either. Both coaches have struggled with TOs ( last year tiger ranked 339th) but we rip RS bc he was not a flashy hire. Penny was a high school and AAU coach with ties to the NBA and Memphis. There was not a national search to hire a BB coach.
FB is not going to get a flashy hire , we are stuck getting OC and DC coaches or retreads..
WHy the double standard?

I was a lurker here for several years as well, when I saw that people liked to jump on each other. The alias accusation has been going on since I was a lurker... One time the mods even said they were aware of who all the aliases were and they gave some kind of warning about it.

From a quick search, here's a thread of someone being accused of being an alias from 2014:

I mean, Penny has been roasted over turnovers - and we've heard all the AAU/HS coaching jokes as well.
There are a couple of differences. Penny is one of us. Penny has never been close to .500. Penny is recruiting at a level to give major hope.
Overall, both have their defenders and detractors. I've defended both plenty of times. It's just hard to defend CRS this year, and the trend is not looking favorable.

I get where you are coming from and intuned with coaching and the different sports . I was just making a point between the two sports . I have at times second guess myself about giving RS the benefit of the doubt but reading posts when the posters have no clue about the game other than what they heard or watched on tv.

I am supporting the Tigers and want all sports to be successful.

A good special teams coordinator. I know we got put behind the eight ball with Saban taking our replacement so close to the season but out special teams have been absolutely awful compared to what this program is used to.

How the team finishes this year will tell me all I need to know about RS. Last year was a struggle, but the team got better and finished strong. This year, with so many young people and injuries - has also been a struggle. Willing to look past the struggle but if he loses the team and a bunch of games - I think the handwriting could be on the wall at that point. Not gonna be easy games. SMU and Houston are good, and ECU / USF are both improving.

RE: Football Coach
I get that Parrish was #4 this summer, and now he's starting.
Coaches recruited him.
And coaches were at the helm when Brown decided to quit.
So the buck still stops with them.

Last year we were told we couldn't judge because COVID shortchanged our transition (and I agreed).
To start this year we were told we couldn't judge because we were starting a frosh qb (and I somewhat agreed).
Now we're told we can't judge because we're starting Parrish.
And going forward we're told we can't judge because we are playing so many frosh.
At some point we have to start judging the staff based upon what we are watching happen.

RE: Football Coach
If a change were to occur next year I would put Dan Lanning at the top of the list. He is a good recruiter and knows the lay of the land at this program. I know he is a DC but he was here during the Norvell years and is young enough to know you have to have an explosive offense. You pair that with a competent defense and we would be back in the Top 25.
