I would seek a MAC invitation.

I think the Big 12 has properties that the Big 10, SEC, AAC and Pac 12 will have interest in... Kansas, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, etc. Which means if we stay put and collect our exit fees, in a year or two we will be in some iteration of the Sun Belt or AAC after the reshuffle... I'm ok waiting around with La Tech and Middle.

At first I was thinking the MAC would be great, but was lying to myself... And most Western fans are lying to themselves if they think we would be happy playing Eastern Michigan every year. It was a knee jerk reaction to being scared of Western not having a home. So now I'm going with patients, as there is a long way to go in the conference shuffle still. And, I truly believe Western is next on deck to get an invite.

the way the Sun Belt is looking, I wouldn't be surprised if there's an eventual split making an Eastern-based league

Sure could happen but after 5 years we are still waiting and in a conf with tarleton st and Abilene , pitchforks will be out among WKU fans.. As far as getting invites, we are literally the only school left…

That is the carrot that may tip the balance. There may be options down the road..i.e. when the B12 moves again, etc which may trickle down and cause more moves. No, I'm not saying WKU or MTSU would be going to the B12. I'm just saying, it may be worth sticking with CUSA to help rebuild, take in all the extra green, and then if something opens up in 3 or 4 years, we win.....we win by helping LaTech, UTEP and FIU to build a new conference home and we win by taking advantage of the exit fee sweepstakes.

The temptation is real, but do you really want to risk an offer coming down the line for one in hand now? I don't. Every program has shown they have no issues moving upwards and onwards from us, why should we be holding out for a ticket to the prom? If the MAC offers we should go and not look back.

We cannot count on being "called up" by ANYONE. It may never happen. If it does fine-- make yourself as attractive in the meantime.

BUT in case we are "stuck" in the C-USA-- we should learn from the mistakes in the past.

1.) FOOTBALL is the only sport left in the country. We don't like it AT ALL - just a sad reality.
Put 90% of your eggs in that basket (unless MVC invites).

2.) Leadership is crucial-- Fire Judy. Hire the best replacement on a short term performance based contract.

3.) Add FB centric schools

4.) Do not over expand (Ten schools are PLENTY)

5.) Do not increase the footprint and reduce it when possible.

6.) Have agreed upon standards for members-- and enforce them.

Our goal should be to finish ahead of the MAC and gain on the one ahead of us.

Approx. 36 million in exit fees. 1- 5 million in entrance fees. 17 million on CFP money. NCAA credits. A small media-sponsorship amount.

All to be divided among the "FEARLESS FIVE". It is some consolation.

Be VERY WISE when choosing new members.

It's unfortunate but true that when realignment comes along it's everyone for themselves. In the current environment if WKU and MT get an invite from the MAC they need to accept.
