RE: CollegeAD is reporting 4 New Members to the Sunbelt!
You know, I used to be against bringing up FCS teams when FBS teams are available, but it worked so well for us the last time. There's not many good teams left in FCS, might as well take one of them.

I'm sincerely happy for the Sun Belt conference if it all works out.
Why are you happy for the Sun Belt Conference?
. . . shouldn’t you be happy for JMU?
I think JMU would be a nice add to Sun Belt - but man that take from the JMU poster makes me think he is saying Sun Belt is lucky to have them. I don't much care for that kind of approach. Maybe they should just go over and 'save' Conference USA. LOL
I think most of us see the world through purple-and-gold sunglasses, and since this is a forum for very active fans, I assume most posters on here are coming from a similar place for their school. Assuming all this is actually happening, you wouldn't be calling up another FCS school if we couldn't bring some benefit to the conference, and most of us think we can. Of course we'll have to see how it all turns out, on and off the field.

Could the SEC soccer playing schools (S. Carolina, Kentucky, anyone else?) who play in CUSA come over to the SB for futbol?
I think they would. CUSA soccer (without those affiliates) would be dead. It would also make sense from a geographical standpoint.
UK is real close to Marshall, WVU is close to ODU/JMU/Marshall/App St.
South Carolina is close to pretty much everyone.
Plus, Marshall/UK/WVU/Coastal would make SBC one of the top soccer conferences. I hope we could add FIU as an affiliate as well.
I also expect Ga St to become a real player in soccer with their badass facilities they are building and the recruiting hotbed they are in.

JMU will be a SOLID add and will fit in from a football first culture.
This is another team who can potentially have a Top 25 team and will put 25-30k in the stands on a regular basis with a SBC schedule.

Just curious but which way do most James Madison grads vote? Seeing how this all goes down from a cultural standpoint.

I think the Sun Belt is lucky. Most schools are diploma mills full of morons. (I can think of a couple within a few miles of where I'm sitting.) JMU isn't one. And JMU is lucky for a chance to move up to a great conference with some peer institutions, and Old Dominion.

Nah, didn't mean it that way. I think we're lucky to have each other. JMU isn't begging to join the Sun Belt, and the Sun Belt isn't begging JMU, either. It's an opportunity for both. I think you're going to see a lot of mutual admiration from both sides. It's not like our current conference is crumbling and we're looking for a safe place to land. We've just outgrown it. It was good to us and we were good to it for a long, long time.

You do understand that it is actually possible for Liberty to be #5 in the country and miss post-season. Five doesn’t get you in the playoff. You can’t go to NY6 unless selected at-large over a at-large P5 rated lower who sells 70k seats and draws massive ratings and at least one contracted bowl has an open slot.
As a member of a beaten down but surviving CUSA you are in NY6 unless another G5 champ is rated higher.

Most JMU fans will love this move. We’ve outgrown the CAA and are ready and excited to move on.
You guys will have fun here. And the way you play you should be a threat the moment you start entering conference play.

I for one absolutely LOVE JMU.
If JMU hadn’t scoffed at joining the lowly Sun Belt we never would have added Coastal Carolina.

Ha, yeah if this becomes official I'd say it all worked out very well for both sides in the end. If JMU were left out this time around, not so much for our side of it. Although I'm very much an FBS-at-all-costs JMU fan so not everyone would see it as such a disaster as I would.

As a lifelong NC/VA resident, it pains me somewhat to say...the SBC BBQ Crown goes to Texas State and it isn't close.
