This is what so called Tiger fans have been saying about every conference the Tigers have been in. As far as I can remember the Tigers have won two conference football titles out right: Missouri Valley and more recently AAC. Stop bitchin and start supporting. Don't dismiss opponents as inferior when most of the time the team plays in a half empty stadium with little inspiration from the city. GoTigersGo win the conference you are in.

Oh and here are the rivals: UCF, USF, ECU, Temple, Navy, Cincinnati. Tulane, SMU, Houston, and Tulsa. They are all conference rivals.

UCF, CIncy and Houston are gone to the B12, remember? They are gone as rivals unless we can join them......

Agree & we let ESPN essentially make the invites for us in exchange for a temporary agreement not to reduce our media contract with existing members. This in exchange for likely never again sniffing a NY6 payout that would mean as much financially or having a slot in an expanded CFP. Even at $6.9M, the TV $$ are only about 12% of our athletic budget yet we let ESPN decide our new members rather than choosing the obvious competitive FB & MBB programs that were available.

My Brotha Blue, you got this all wrong. We are everyones rival. We rule the new conference. We are the flagship. We get everyones best shot.

Why?

Because we are the bully, we got the best car, the most fans, and the most money. We are gonna take your lunch money, your dog; we'd take your job but we don't really have to work at this. Your momma likes us better and everyone in this new conference knows who the next call up to the show is. Even when we lose; we'll have more fans at our game than the your dumb team. And if you get pissed at us, guess what, we don't care.

Get ready to be the 900 pound gorilla with an attitude in the room. We don't need rivals. We got a conference to hate.

I don’t know why not. We just lost three potential roadblocks in UCF, Cincinnati and Houston. Our strength of schedule may take a hit, dependent on how the rest of the conference performs.

Boise or the predicted MWC best, App St or CC will likely open the season ranked ahead of us & unless we go undefeated (which has never happened in our history save 1 season in the '60s), we will never be considered for the NY6 or expanded CFP slot unless we schedule much stronger OOC - and what is the likely probability of that?

Define “stronger OOC schedule”. We beat an SEC team this season and are now 4-4. We’ve won ONE game since. Go back to Rip and Stobart and see how playing all those powerhouses worked out. We would get injured and then couldn’t beat ECU, USM or UAB

Simply defined as keeping us ranked above Boise, App St or others within the MWC or Sunbelt so as to capture the NY6 bowl &/or the expanded slot for the CFP which will likely require us to also be undefeated with the departure of Cincy, UCF & UH which will mean the AAC will no longer have the near automatic CFP & media perception of the AAC as the strongest G5. Hence the need for a stronger OOC schedule & going undefeated.... hence the logic we won't sniff the NY6 or expanded CFP slot in most years but hey we get to keep our $6.9M TV contract.

Okay, but going back to 2015 (and omitting the three defectors) ESPN preseason ranking leaders were:

2015 - Navy @ 18
2016 - USF @ 19
2017 - USF @ 21
2018 - no one
2019 - Memphis
2020 - Coastal @ 12 (Tulsa 24)
2021 - Coastal @ 14 (SMU 21)

Chadwell has done an amazing job at Coastal, but he’s now on everyone’s list. He won’t be there forever. Removing the three that left and adding the newcomers, we still have the strongest conference of the G5 in ‘21. I don’t understand why you think we’re now way behind the Sunbelt & MWC.

Didn't say we are way behind but the point is we aren't way ahead like we have been where the AAC leader could lose a game & still be the leader. Those days will be gone & adding Rice, NoTX & Charlotte to our usual weak schedule & we will likely never sniff the NY6 bowl or the expanded CFP.

It's not how we feel about NoTX that matters but rather those who vote on the CFP committee.

Exactly.

Fans of teams that see themselves as moving 'up' are excited and happy.

Fans of the teams left behind see the replacement teams as worse that the leaving teams and so are generally unhappy about the changes.

I don't give a **** about any of the 6 CUSA teams coming in, including UAB. It'll be mildly interesting to play them in a conference game the first time then it'll be so what? No history - nothing.

All I'm rooting for is the B12 invite. I've got no interest in hanging around the AAC and I understand that if Memphis does get into the B12 all the old members will absolutely hate the fact that Memphis is joining. CIncy, Houston, and UCF will be ok with it but all the rest will be giving us the business.

wgas?
