RE: Mark Ingram’s Accomplishments at UAB
He has truly done a masterful job navigating some difficult waters. He was brought into the toughest situation imaginable, now it seems like both sides are happy. Can't ask for more than that.

Call me a kiss ass, but I emailed him yesterday and thanked him for the hard work him and his team put in to get UAB here. I figured he'd reply eventually, but I was surprised that he responded within a couple of hours. I assumed he'd be sauced on champagne by that point in the afternoon.

Nice job. That's not kiss ass, that's classy. Think I'll do the same.

Hopefully he didn't read all the fat jokes about him on BT and fans wishing regularly that he would be hired away. I never understood it. Really makes those folks look petty and ignorant now.

I didn't trust him because of who hired him. I said mean things. Not ashamed of it. I've grown to like him, I think he's done a good job.

I see him like I see Bill Clark. I'm glad to have him, and will be happy for him if he finds something he likes better. The difference in him and Coach Clark is that if Coach leaves I'll also be heartbroken

I heard things out of the athletic department the first couple of years that gave me a negative opinion on Ingram. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of what I heard was sour grapes and people upset at being forced to change how things were being done.

What you can’t argue with is results. The results show Ingram has done a fantastic job.

Maybe people like the nut on twitter that complains about UAB's athletic department operations manual not being updated? LOL Pretty sure that's someone that got canned by Mark. Of course that's where the "insiders" on here were getting it. That's why some of them are like an extension of the UAB SID. That's also why they stick up for a snake like Brian Mackin. That stuff was coming from his old minions. Hopefully they've all been fired or demoted. You could build a nice bonfire with all that dead wood.

Pretty interesting comments about autonomy. Love to hear more of his thoughts on how this may unfold. I still see the top of the sport more likely to break away than to compromise.

Mark is a good guy. He's got a tough job. I think he cares deeply about doing a good job. You can't be in that role and make everyone happy. If you are making everyone happy, you are probably not doing the right things.

The bottom line that UAB's facilities have been completely transformed while Ingram was in the A.D.'s seat. He'd get the blame if things had gone wrong. He more than deserves the credit for what has been accomplished.

It's very true to say that he's working at it in a completely different era for UAB athletics... but it's a bottom line business, and he has gotten the job done.

He’s sure done a terrible job doing what a lot on here said he was hired to do:

Make sure we never get football back and destroy our athletics department.

RE: Mark Ingram’s Accomplishments at UAB
We seem to have some selective memory going on around here. And that's fine, some things aren't worth dragging out of the Memory Hole - but they're real, and they happened. We can raise a shot of Cuervo Gold and pretend there's no subtext.

People grow and they change. The biological definition of an absence of growth is "death." Ingram'21 has many accomplishments, yesterday's conference shift among them. With Ingram'16 - Lord Fumbles Himself - still in charge, we would be LaTech right now.

It's hard to grow and change as a middle-aged man. Mark Ingram has a great deal of which to be proud, and the program's success is but a tiny part of it. But he did not spring fully-formed out of Gene Bartow's forehead like Athena from that of Zeus.

So here's a Blazer Trivia question:

Q: What do Gene Bartow, BatesUAB and Bill Clark have in common?

A: They've all been ejected from Bartow Arena.

That's fair...and he had blunders for sure (still does in some cases). But him being hired as a puppet is not one of them. Not in the context people kept saying. So many people believed then (and some even still believe) that he was an out-of-nowhere injection, part of the coup against UAB Athletics. Not true. A committee recommended him as one of the suggested candidates based on a comprehensive process. He was available to be hired in the first place because he was on that list sent to Watts.

Whether or not you felt he was the best choice is fair, but the process happened and I'm glad that this was the result. I think he's proven himself and I hope he continues to help our Athletics Department rise.
