After defeating the Tribe 1-0 on Friday, Rutgers pounded Richmond yesterday 21-3, to improve their record to 8-1, first time since 1962. Two of those eight wins were at UNCW in a Saturday DH 12-5 and 2-0.

Today’s opponent is Princeton, 0-5. Tigers lost to VCU yesterday, 2-1.

Lafayette beat VCU on Friday, 3-0.

Theoretically, Tribe’s #3 weekend staff will be facing off against Princeton’s #2 weekend staff as Princeton did not play on Friday.

It’s all about the pitching, and Tribe’s pitching has been up to the task. Been in every game except one.

Games have changed on a dime when there’s been a pitching change.

Props to the new head man … the team has performed well, looks good, and they’re having fun.

Gave up 3 in the ninth but beat Princeton 9-6. Tribe baseball has already won more D1 games than Tribe men’s basketball won all season.

Timely late clutch hitting and relief hurling gave our guys a big three game sweep, including final two on the road, over George Mason. Record upped to 8-9 with games at Duke tomorrow and three game opening CAA
series at home versus UNCW this weekend.

Our new coach, Mike Mcrae really has these guys playing hard.

Judging strictly by RPI (a dubious approach, I admit), it looks like with the exception of the Richmond loss in 10 innings a month ago, the team has won the games it "should" have won and lost the games it "should" have lost. Interestingly, all the 2- or 3-game series have been sweeps, one way or the other.

Looking ahead, we open conference play with the team's current two best teams in RPI terms -- UNCW and Northeastern. I hope we can break out of this temporary "RPI is destiny" streak and grab a few wins in those series -- particularly with UNCW at home at Plumeri.

Baseball is a little bit weird in that when you start the season pitching is ahead of hitting especially where it's cold. We should see the real Tribe soon. Hoping the bats heat up and get hotter. We still don't have a lot of pop in the lineup. On the pitching side our top four starters have done very well so far, but McRae has been limiting innings except for Green over the weekend. Let's hope they get stretched out and do well in conference play.

Sweeping Mason in anything is awesome
