The only MAC school on the list. No. 30 ranking right behind 29 Normal, IL, with No. 18 being Urbana, IL.

This is crazy. It must be the criteria: "We considered cities with at least 30,000 residents and where at least 25% of the population are enrolled in college."

DeKalb does not even belong in a top 100 list of college towns.

There's not a single list of college towns, or best college towns, or best colleges, that has much validity at all.

Dekalb needs some improvement, and we may have gotten a some homer love from the Trib, but Dekalb is a classic "main street america" college town, not a complete hick town or cookie cutter suburb like some college locations. Good bones, just need to finish off Lincoln highway with style and make some other improvements.
