RE: O Line Performance & Metz
I think, when thrown into the LT position, Metz had a lot to process being new to the position. LT is, by far, the most difficult OL position.

With the move to guard, he simply focuses on lining up, and pounding the guy in front of him. With another year under his belt, and a world of confidence, it would be interesting to see how he'd do if moved back to the blind side. My guess is, he'd acquit himself very well.

Collinsworth has not played this year. No surprise. Few true freshmen O-linemen log playing time. Cam Jones, Dylan O'Quinn, James Tunstall, and John Williams have been the OTs on the 2-deep all year.

The only true freshman to have burned his red shirt so far is Bryon Threats. None of the other frosh have played more than a couple of games. I am guessing Threats will be the only one at the end of the year.

Bolded, I'll take that as at least some evidence that Fickell is here to stay for the next few years. A coach who plans on leaving could care less about burning redshirts in an effort to have a showcase season. On the flip side, it suggests Fickell has already completed the investment phase as evidenced by the team he has on the field this year.

Just curious, was Threats considered among the best in the freshman class?

Anyone who watched Threats play in HS knew he was going to be an immediate impact guy and borderline star at either of his positions (RB or Safety). I personally thought he had a higher ceiling as a RB, but he'll be very good for us on either side of the field.

I will say this though...we have had no need to pull freshmen out to play this season, so I wouldnt put any credence behind retaining redshirts when pertaining to Fickell's career choices, even though I tend to think he is on his original stated 10 year plan here.
