Yeah, and Iowa lost to Purdue. Of course, Iowa only beat Penn State because of a 1st half injury to their QB. Does anyone honestly believe Iowa would beat the Aggies? I certainly don't. By the same token, I think two-thirds of the teams in WRC's Top 25 could beat #2 Michigan, who have yet to look impressive in any game this season, despite their undefeated record.

Or to make the same point I just made in the “Other Games” thread, but with better metrics (thx WRC):

Split D-1A into three distinct tiers:

Top third (Rice is 0-4)
Middle third (Rice is 0-0)
Bottom third (Rice is 1-0)

Rice has not played anyone in the middle category, but has two scheduled games against this group (UAB and UTEP). We will be underdogs in these games but should have more than a punchers chance.

The other 4 games on our schedule come from the bottom third of D-1A.
Im not saying #90 Charlotte on The road won’t be more of a challenge than bottom dweller USM was at home… but I am saying that we haven’t lost to anyone ranked below the top 36 teams in the country.

Yep, that’s what I’m saying.

Bowl bound baby!!!

Purdue is 4-2 and #25 in the AP. Mississippi State is 3-3 and #59 in my rankings. Not even close to analogous.

@Michigan 47, (5-2) Western Michigan 14
@Michigan 31, (2-4) Washington 10
@Michigan 63, (5-2) No. Illinois 10
@Michigan 20, (3-4) Rutgers 13
Michigan 38, @(3-3) Wisconsin 17
Michigan 32, @(3-5) Nebraska 29

Too bad Michigan has yet to look impressive. And, did I mention that the B1G is the #1 conference this year?

More than a punchers chance in road games vs a 5-2 UAB and a 6-1 UTEP? You’re going to have to provide your definition of “punchers chance”.

But I love your enthusiasm and optimism.

The most likely scenario is 3-9 and a stadium even more empty than it has been. I still believe there's a greater than 50/50 chance that Bloomgren is a "poison pill" brought in to kill football. It just does not make sense, with a large increase in funding for recruiting and for support personnel, that the level of talent is below that of dozens of FCS schools.

Except that Bloom thought that sprinkling the right amount of “NFL” and “Stanford” fairy dust and saying Intellectual Brutality would be all it would take and had no plan B. Rice is not Stanford and he was a low-level “analyst” in the NFL. So here we are. Time for Rice’s Plan B
