RE: Teams that could finish above Cincy by end of year
I think our best chance is 2 loss BIG12 champ. Whoever wins Bedlam goes down in championship game. The Bama game @ Auburn this week will be interesting as well. Bama is not that good this year and Auburn plays well at home. I don't trust the committee on 2-loss Bama. I have no worries about ND...can't believe the chatter out there about them jumping an undefeated Cincy. I think Ohio State and Georgia continue to roll. Win next week and it will be the most exciting championship week of our lives get in or not.

I'd be stunned if Oklahoma passed us even with 2 wins.

Oklahoma state is more worrisome so I'm hoping Oklahoma continues the tradition of whooping that ass in Bedlam.

The narrative on UC up until this week has been "style points". Now it's moving towards strength of schedule.

There will always be a narrative from those who don't see the G5 as deserving of a spot regardless of the metrics/arguments/eye tests used. That said, you have to admit there has been more chaos this year than ever before and there are fewer teams that can be put over us without clear mental gymnastics/biases that will discredit the CFP Committee. We will be at #4 come Tuesday. Let's see them drop us outside of the top four if we win out. That will be one for the ages.

Eye test. FSU (5-6), Toledo (6-5) VT (5-5) beat each by 3.

This article from ESPN shares your thought. I'll believe it when I see it, not sold yet. But agree with you we root for Oklahoma to win.

Both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State won in Week 12, setting up a Bedlam showdown in the regular-season finale. While they have identical records, Oklahoma State remains the more realistic contender at this point because the Sooners sank five spots following their Week 11 loss to Baylor and are now looking up at two-loss Ole Miss (and two-loss Baylor). Oklahoma has also had some narrow wins this fall against unheralded opponents, starting with a 40-35 win against now 2-9 Tulane in the season opener and more recently, a 35-23 win against Kansas on Oct. 23. The Sooners trailed the now 2-9 Jayhawks twice by double digits.

If Oklahoma finishes as a one-loss Big 12 champion, it would at least be considered, but it's hard to imagine the Sooners catapulting from No. 13 ahead of Notre Dame and Cincinnati and into the top four.

This week, Oklahoma State should climb as high as the No. 7 spot, which is a more feasible leap into the playoff, especially considering two teams ranked ahead -- Ohio State and Michigan -- will play each other. If the Cowboys finish as one-loss champs, and Cincinnati loses, they still have to worry about Notre Dame. Oklahoma State would have the conference championship, plus its two wins against ranked opponents Baylor and Oklahoma -- and a third in the Big 12 title game. The Cowboys' résumé would have a slight edge over the Irish, along with its Big 12 title, but it would have to hope the committee doesn't think Notre Dame is "unequivocally" better.

Updated after WK13. Oklahoma and Ohio State eliminated. I think we get in over 2-loss Bama, so just need Bama loss, Okla St loss, or Michigan loss to get in. If none of that occurs, it becomes 12-1 OSU vs. 13-0 Cincy for the last spot and I think we would be out. Go Cincy and Georgia!!

Okla St 11-1
Michigan 11-1
Georgia 12-0
Bama 11-1

I actually think we'll be in above Oklahoma state but I don't really want to find out in a last team in scenario.

I don’t see how undefeated UC would be out in any scenario. Just beat Houston.

No way OK St. is getting in over UC or even ND.

The committee has shown what they think of the B12.

I’ve been convinced they’re going to screw us since the first CFB playoff rankings. Nothing has changed my mind. Georgia is in no matter what. Since seeding is almost irrelevant, they have no reason to break out their A game. If Alabama moves to 2 they still get in over us if they lose a close one to Georgia. Michigan & OK State get in over us with wins, both of which are likely. Without significant help we finish 5th and play a NY6 game against ND or tO$U.

I just don’t buy that the fix is in. Notre Dame is 11-1. UC beat them, they would be locked into a spot if they win that game.

When the initial rankings came out UC was in the middle of the ugly part of the schedule. Looking back now.

Tulsa is now a bowl team that played a extremely difficult schedule, SMU is an 8 win team, UCF is an 8 win team, ECU is a 7 win team. UC also plays a ranked 11 win Houston team. Once again if UC wins nobody will have two wins over 11 win teams.

If they beat Baylor (they will) they will be ranked ahead of UC. They both might get in. Although I wouldn’t bet against Saban having the perfect dark side of the force game plan against Georgia. It’s the kind of game he seems to somehow win. If so, the 4 teams in the playoff will all have 1 win. At that point you just throw your hands up and say fuq it.

BTW, it’s funny to think about....ND would probably be in the top 4 right now had they instead lost to Wisconsin and beaten UC.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them jump us. They'll have had back to back top 10 wins and were already at 7. As long as UC and Georgia takes care if business like they have all year it shouldn't matter though.

If Alabama wins I see us at 5 and OK st at 4. If Alabama loses I see us at 3 and OK st at 4.
