ACU: Meteoric rise for Athletics raises danger of burnout
A look behind the curtain at the life, burnout that comes with working in Division I athletics. This specific look comes with a glance at Abilene Christian
—-

On a typical day, Jordan Herrod will work 12-14 hours. The new assistant athletic director of communications includes talking to coaches, responding to media requests, coordinating interview times, managing athletes’ media schedules and writing his own copy for the Department of Athletics website.

Herrod is the third communications director in athletics in three years. This summer, he succeeded Chris Macaluso, who took over for Lance Fleming in 2019.

“The time demands, being a perfectionist, I want to make sure we’re doing things the right way at a high level,” Herrod said. “Just being able to manage my time and finding time to do the super important things that matter has been a big challenge.”

RE: ACU: Meteoric rise for Athletics raises danger of burnout
ACU has always wanted more for less from its staff, employees and coaches. Right before the Football season, ACU hired a new, behind the scenes, person only to let her go within a few months. The sports communication department struggles even more with coaches that want to play games and hide information, or post obviously false info for players in order to keep opposing teams from Knowing too much. They got paranoid of people at practices of being spies, even when they weren't good enough to spy on. Now they play cancel culture with specific fans that disagree with them in order to further control things. There have been some great people who have stepped up through time, but sometimes it's a toxic environment in a school that should be the exact opposite. Will it get better? Who knows, the fans certainly have no say; only the inner circles.....

Not sure. I stay logged in, so haven't had any issue.
