We have to remember that they’re preseason Top 20 & we’re preseason in the ~70’s, so them being better at the moment wouldn’t be a stretch.
Hopefully we'll improve a lot from it. Can't simulate playing a top 25 team. Good to get that experience without the accompanying official L, if that was indeed the outcome.

Yeah having a team like that is a best case scrimmage. better than playing some random Southern Conference or SWAC team that doesn’t test us any.

Right, Jabari & Walker Kessler are who I assume did most of the damage. Cardwell, their backup 5 is probably further along than Ronnie as well. But I, for the life of me, can’t figure out who their 3rd best guy would be.
Kessler dominating Jemison could be concerning though. I know Kessler was a very highly rated prospect but he had an awful freshman year, and we’re expecting Trey to be the first or second best big in the conference.

May even be 2nd best on his own team. We use Gordon for Defensive battles he can’t win.

I come in peace Blazer fans…a little clarity on Auburns front court…behind Jabari and Walker, Jaylin Williams is probably the first man off the bench then Cardwell. Williams started last season and would start on a lot of teams in the SEC and is a legit stretch 4/5 with serious all around skills. From reports it sounded like the matchup was far more competitive on the perimeter. Coach Kennedy is going to have y’all in position for a tourney birth sans injury issues.

Trey got his ass handed to him by a freshman CUSA big last year (Lofton, La.Tech) So really the best we can hope for is him being 2nd.
I mean, Kenny Lofton was arguably the most impactful player on the U19 Team USA squad that included Chet Holmgreen, so I wouldn’t beat Trey up too much.

Trey will be much better than last year. I expect his offensive numbers to improve and wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t get 10 rebounds or more per game…

Thanks for the post and position from your side. I, like others, expected to take the loss, and am glad to know where we were beat. We should have a good idea of how we line up against top notch competition, and will be better for having played this game.

I'm not shocked either about getting outplayed. I don't like Pearl but the man can really coach.
UAb is returning 7 guys including Coleman and Toney who didn't or hardly played.
8 new guys.
New System for them.
Establishing starters versus role players.
I like this team.

I just don’t like hearing that we got thoroughly beaten.. I get it’s a new team but we are hoping for a special season, and rightfully so. If we are playing up to expectations there aren’t many teams that should be manhandling us.

Probably not a great matchup for us. Auburn is talented in the post and the majority of our talent is on the perimeter. But there aren't too many teams now with dominant post play. Guard play is what wins games, especially in March.

Id only settle for 1 at Legacy, 1 at Bartow, and 1 in Auburn.
Why in the world would Auburn agree to this?
Well, there's lots of AU fans in Bham who wouldnt drive down to AUburn to watch em, but would help fill up BJCC like our last game against them here.

Do the same deal as last time. 2 at AU, 1 at Bartow, 1 at Legacy.

Hearing we are going to get the same deal as last time.
2 in AU and 2 in BHam split between Bartow and Legacy.

That's a great deal TBH. I'd be fine with it being two in Auburn and two in the new BJCC, so the fact that one would be in Bartow? Jump on it with two feet.

Unless our "fans" sell their tickets to Auburn fans like last time. Thankfully we had a loud student section or you would have thought it was a home game for Auburn.

I don't think I'd go that far. Jaylin has shown flashes of his talent, but he hasn't been nearly the guy Auburn thought they'd signed. I'd be surprised if he's the 3rd guy.

Can't freaking wait for this series to return. Although not really looking forward to the "but you went to Auburn" comments from everyone that sees me show up in Green. Either way, going to the game in Bartow in 2016 is what got me to follow UAB so hard not to be excited about that returning.
