Sinema Takes a Shot at the White House and Disappoints Democrats Everywhere
Quote:Kyrsten Sinema just won’t stop disappointing liberal Democrats everywhere. The Arizona senator, currently at the center of a battle over Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda, reiterated her position that the filibuster isn’t going anywhere and that she will not be bankrupting the country to please Bernie Sanders.

In doing so, she made it clear that the White House is misrepresenting how forward she’s been with them. I can’t be any more here for this than I am. Truly, this is just choice stuff Sinema is putting out there

The background on her response involves a narrative being pushed by the administration and Democrats at large that Sinema and Joe Manchin are holding up negotiations while not saying what they want. The idea is that the moderate duo hasn’t actually laid out their red lines regarding policy and price, creating an unfair scenario where the far-left is ready to compromise but can’t.

Yet, as Manchin has laid out previously, that’s not true for him, and now, Sinema is making it clear it’s not true for her either. There is no mystery about where she stands. She’s been clear the filibuster will not be touched and she’s been clear she’s opposed to major parts of the climate provisions, drug pricing provisions, and tax provisions of the current reconciliation boondoggle that is being proposed. Past that, it appears she’s gone into even more detail with the White House itself, noting that she has no reason to share anything else with those in Congress.

But what makes things even more complicated is that she and Manchin, though allies in pushing for a different bill, are in opposition on other points.

That has the administration gnashing its teeth, per Politico.

“So, like where the hell is the overlap?” the source close to Biden said of the “maddening” policy gap between the two centrists. “How do you land that?”

The answer is that you don’t land. That’s a possibility that most Democrats don’t even want to entertain, but it’s becoming more and more likely. If Sinema wants a carbon tax and not an expensive drug program, but Manchin is against a carbon tax but for the expensive drug program, then the logical outcome is that none of that stuff gets done.

That’s the best case for Republicans as they continue to sit on the sidelines and let the Democrat civil war play out.

There are 52 of the 100 votes for 1.2 billion. The progressives are a minority.

It's curious.. They hailed Romney and Flake for going against Trump, but they're trying to vilify Sinema and Manchin.

Thank God for Sinema. I'm afraid Manchin will fold for a fast buck if she wasnt steadfastly opposed. I really believe that because Sinema is taking all of the sh*t from the left and the whitehouse. Why wouldnt they b*tch and moan at Manchin? Probably because they know he will be a yes if Sinema says yes.

True, but also because he represents a state where Biden got <30% of the vote.

Manchin has made it very clear that he has never been a "Democrat". I guess we will find out what that statement means. My guess is that he despises todays Liberal and will not fold to their agenda. Sinema? Im not so sure about with her limited track record. Joe has a long track record of bucking the uber Lib agenda.

Manchin (and Sinema) are almost bullet-proof. Democrats can't really do anything to discipline them, because if they do then Manchin and/or Sinema can run off to the republicans, and voila, there goes senate majority status.
