I know the Liberty Bowl is an issue and that despite a massive renovation to that whole fair complex it's still going to be a hassle and is off campus, or was it more that there were four openings and five applicants? If it's the former, are they good as gone after the stadium renovations are complete?

They are as good as gone as soon as the Big 12 needs to fill another hole. Either when WVU goes to the ACC or someone goes to the B1G. Or if the Big 12 decides to go to 14 and a partner pops up somewhere, not sure who that would be at this point, maybe the Big 12 tries to get Colorado St to come with Memphis.

I would very much be in favor of Sun Belt as an ECU alum and fan. Aresco is a great executive just not sure what the future of the AAC is moving forward. I think the Sun Belt could rival the MWC with a few smart strategic adds.

I really wish UAB would back off of the AAC. UAB, USM, Marshall, LT to SB is a powerplay and puts the SB in a position of strength vs the AAC.

I was told today that the AAC is back in the market train. UAB is 100% in, Charlotte, FAU and one other are strong possibilities.

USM and Marshall are holding informal invites right now.

USM and Marshal are holding invites to the SBC?

My hunch is USM is basically at a handshake deal but the administration wants to let the AAC thing play out.

Remember CUSA 3.0 up until immediately preceding the vote was expected to be a one team or two team addition, not six.

Nothing lost in waiting

This 100%. I think same for Marshall.

+100. Can’t wait for this to play out and USM becomes part of the SBC gang.

Arkstfan,

I'm totally lost here. What vote? Who's a one team or two addition? The AAC or the SB?

He's talking about the original CUSA expansion in 2011 and 2012 after the AAC formed and took most of CUSA. The original thought was they'd take UNT and FIU only. Next thing you know, UTSA, La Tech, FAU, and MTSU all got invites

Not an official invite no. There is a general agreement with USM that an invite will arrive whenever they signal they are ready.

I don't think Marshall has anything similar, though there are certainly several scenarios where they get the other spot.

CUSA got clogged up and six teams when one or two was the talk until the last minute.

AAC has some of those same players. Why jump before you know for sure.

Same thing basically happened in the big WAC expansion to 16. If I remember correctly---that was originally only supposed to be a 2 team expansion and instead ended up ballooning the conference to 16.

The AAC should take two from CUSA and two from SBC.

UAB, GSU, ASU, FAU.

This way it would push CUSA and SBC to regionalize what is left over. 20 total schools for two conferences of 10.

Random off-topic question but I’ve seen what I’m about to describe in this thread…is anyone else on a phone using Tapatalk regularly seeing back-to-back duplicate posts? The duplicates aren’t there when viewing CSNBBS from a computer just from a phone. Just wondering.

If regionalization like that occurred I’d hope App would try to schedule regular H&Hs with Louisiana and stAte.

Well the SBC if it lost App State would have a more difficult time recruiting someone like Marshall or ODU to join.
