Way off topic: James T. Kirk just went to freaking space!
As a proclaimed Trekkie this is absolutely awesome. Only thing that could have topped it was the entire crew of the original show being able to experience this.

I watched it too. Maybe the first time I've seen Shatner speechless.
I loved his reactions afterward. Wish we could get the leaders of the 10 biggest nations in the world and send them all up together. Might lead to a profound change of perspective.

I usually don't include the original because as special as it was it could be a little campy. That said, I love all of the shows but my favorite is Voyager followed by TNG, DS9, and Enterprise.
The newer shows are pretty good. The first season of Picard was very good and that season finale had a very emotional ending. The past season of Discovery was the best of the three seasons so far in my opinion.
What about you?

This is outta left field but I actually thought about Enterprise when I was walking around Protective before the Liberty game. The theme song popped into my head for some reason (yeah, I know most trekkies hate it).

Hate to break it to ya bud but UAB ain't exactly where the cool kids go and that was ok by me. Most of them were douches in high school anyway. The ones that couldn't afford to go to Tuscaloosa or Auburn went to Jax St or Troy back in my day (80s).

One of my oldest friends is a Trekkie so over the years I've watched a lot of Trek. Not my favorite sci fi but as a huge fan of the genre I still enjoy it. I kinda liked Faith of the Heart but I wasn't really a die-hard. He hated it.
If you haven't checked out The Expanse on Amazon, I would highly recommend it.

Outside of Trek the only sci-fi that I watched religiously was Stargate and Battlestar Galactica. I know there are plenty of good ones but I just can't keep up with all of them.

He referred to himself as a Trekkie not a Trekker. If he had said he was a Trekker than the nerd tag would be appropriate.

I’m not willing to include the new ones yet but I’ll just say Enterprise is the only series I’ve watched in it’s entirety more than once. As good as DS9 is it’s still a Babylon 5 rip off which counts against it. I’m more of a Whovian than Trekkie

Best of all time firefly which has the advantage of only lasting one season. Farscape is probably the most hardcore science fiction of the lot and excellent as well. Worth rewatching.

I actually did watch the one season of Firefly and it was dang good. And Serenity (Firefly movie) was great too!
