Yeah, good idea for CUSA, not for anybody else.

If proposed with the Sun-Belt 5 years ago it's maybe a good idea for everyone. However, these regional things always sound better to teams on the edges than teams in the middle. Obviously ODU would love the idea of just drawing a line and splitting. If you are near that line you might identify more with schools on one side or the other or very likely want to stay with schools on both sides and the geography isn't bad for you anyway since you are basically in the center. That's tossing aside the obvious ego and financial issues that make this a non-starter but even assuming those were non-issues getting schools in the geographic center of the current conferences to agree to be on the edge of new conferences isn't likely appealing.

There are a lot of FCS schools in the regions that would make a jump, and theyare better than La.-Monroe and Texas State. There would be schools scared of this like La.-Monroe's spot could be taken by Missouri State.

Chattanooha, JMU, Jacksonville State, Sam Houston State could be more attractive.

Listen to his Going for Two Podcast

He said it was a good idea several years ago but now it's probably too late to get it implemented

This.

In contrast to 5 years ago, this "Realignment Idea" is hocus-pocus aimed at trying to keep from getting poached.
