Liberty University's postseason bowl options
I've seen quite a bit of conflicting information, but I pulled this one from the school's website:

https://www.liberty.edu/flames/news/libe...owl-cycle/

From 2020-2025 Liberty can land in any of the six bowls mentioned here.

Quote:ESPN Events Bowl Agreement for the 2020-25 Bowl Game Cycle:

Boca Raton Bowl
• FAU Stadium
• Boca Raton, Fla.

Camellia Bowl
• Cramton Bowl
• Montgomery, Ala.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
• Albertsons Stadium
• Boise, Idaho

Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl
• Toyota Stadium
• Frisco, Texas

Myrtle Beach Bowl
• Brooks Stadium
• Conway, S.C.

New Mexico Bowl
• Dreamstyle Stadium
• Albuquerque, N.M.

I'm curious if there are other contracted bowls the school made since this August 2019 release, but I don't know of any.

It's important to understand this point:

Quote:In the event either conference affiliated with the previously mentioned bowl games does not have enough deserving teams, defined as meeting the six qualifying win threshold, the secondary bowl agreement allows ESPN Events and its bowl game partners to place a bowl eligible Liberty team.

I'm going to delve in deeper into this because if those bowls are it, this could mean that a really good Liberty is sitting home during bowl season.

RE: Liberty University's postseason bowl options
Since the Flames have been to two bowls in our two bowl eligible years and that bowl is not on the list posted above, I feel confident that we will be in a bowl this year as well unless the wheels fall off.

Thanks for the memories in Orlando, GaSo & Coastal.

I seem to recall hearing from LU about a new agreement with ESPN this past winter.

RE: Liberty University's postseason bowl options
Gang of 5 likely to be bowl eligible:

Conference USA (8; possibly 9)
1. UTSA (6-0) is bowl eligible.
2. UAB (4-2) still has Rice, Southern Miss, UTEP.
3. UTEP (5-1) still has Rice and North Texas
4. Louisiana Tech (2-3) still has UTEP, Old Dominion, Southern Miss, & Rice
5. Charlotte (4-2) still has Rice and Old Dominion
6. Florida Atlantic (3-3) still has UTEP, Old Dominion, Middle Tennessee, & Marshall
7. Western Kentucky (1-4) still has Old Dominion, FIU, Rice, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, and Charlotte
8. Middle Tennessee (2-4) still has UConn, Southern Miss, FIU, and Old Dominion

9. Marshall (3-3) still has North Texas & FIU; would need to beat one of FAU, Western Kentucky, UAB, or Charlotte

Mountain West (8)
1. Air Force (5-1) still has Colorado State & UNLV
2. Boise (3-3) still has Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado State or Air Force
3. Utah State (3-2) still has San Jose State, New Mexico, UNLV, and New Mexico State
4. Wyoming (4-1) still has New Mexico and San Jose State
5. San Diego State (5-0) still has San Jose State & UNLV
6. Nevada (4-1) still has UNLV and San Jose State
7. Fresno (4-2) still has New Mexico and San Jose State
8. Hawaii (3-3) still has New Mexico State (again), UNLV, Colorado State, or Wyoming

Likely to be off the table: New Mexico Bowl

To be continued...

RE: Liberty University's postseason bowl options
Here are the ESPN bowls below. The bolded ones are the AT LARGE ESPN Events bowls, but I would suspect if ESPN wanted to create a matchup in another bowl it could
Armed Forces Bowl
Birmingham Bowl
Bahamas Bowl
Boca Raton Bowl
Camellia Bowl
Cure Bowl
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Fenway Bowl
First Responder Bowl
Frisco Bowl
Gasparilla Bowl
Hawaii Bowl
Las Vegas Bowl
Myrtle Beach Bowl - Sunbelt guaranteed spot in this game, opponent is ESPN at large
New Mexico Bowl
Texas Bowl

I seem to recall hearing from LU about a new agreement with ESPN this past winter.

So I do see that Liberty played in the Cure Bowl in 2019 and 2020, but I need to look at the specific bowl's contracted teams. From my understanding the Cure Bowl this year must take a bowl eligible Gang of 5 school or Army after the primary tie-ins have been met. Unless that's wrong.

I know College Football News isn't exactly the most accurate source. I was leaning a little bit on it while looking for a better source:

Could they play vs BYU? That would be a solid bowl game with good attendance and tv ratings.

Yes, I might drive up to Shreveport for a BYU vs Liberty Independence Bowl.

Not a chance in hell. The Independence Bowl is a direct primary tie-in with Conference USA and BYU, and CUSA will absolutely fill that spot.

If UTSA can keep it up, then UTSA vs BYU would be a nice get for the Independence Bowl. UTSA is 6-0.

If bowls still exist for the next TV contract, BYU and Army to have automatic bowl with winning record.
