I don’t know how many seats they’ve lost in the state leg., but I know they lost 2 Metro-Atlanta seats in Congress. One in 2018, the other in 2020. To be fair, both of those seats saw a lot of pro-Blue migration since the last round in 2011/12.
But still, your point is valid. In Texas, the GOP wisely (imho) focused on bolstering their own incumbents rather than attacking the Dem. incumbents. The new US House delegation will probably be 25-13 in January 2023. That’s not bad at all, from a GOP standpoint. An equivalent break in Georgia would be between 9-5 and 10-4. I really don’t think there is any way to avoid 4 Dem. seats in Metro Atlanta anymore. Plus one AA district in rural South Georgia. and you wind up at 9-5.
