Agreed. Scott is a good dude with legit journalism aspirations. He's not going to make something up for Internet points.

Considering it takes zero sources to know the Sun-Belt commish would wipe his butt with this proposal wouldn't be a bad idea to just score the internet points even if he didn't have the source.

I love how the Sun Belt rejected this so they are going to try and get the AAC on board.

RE: CUSA to propose "Reorganization" with AAC; AAC targeting UAB
Is this news? Everyone knows the AAC is considering UAB. Everyone knows the AAC is visiting schools in both the Sun Belt and C-USA to create a list and strike some names off.

They are probably considering almost every option and visiting every program in both the Belt and C-USA who could make the AAC better and are a geographic fit. That includes the following:

1. App State
2. Louisiana
3. Coastal
4. Arkansas State
5. Georgia Southern
6. Georgia State
7. Texas State
8. South Alabama
9. Troy
10. UAB
11. UNT
12. Rice
13. UTSA
14. UTEP
15. Marshall
16. WKU
17. UNC-Harrisburg
18. USM
19. FAU
20. FIU

There are so many programs they have or will be visiting. There are some on this list who obviously won't be considered while there are some who will receive invites. It's called Due Diligence. Fans will take any nuggets that they can get but I don't see a regional alignment at the behest of C-USA happening.

The AAC will take programs they want and some will come as a surprise. I'd guess that they go to 14 or 16 to really get the best brands and some market programs that will allow the ability to sustain success while having project schools. Basketball and football can be successful.

I can guarantee you Troy is not on that list.

This merger wouldn't work. If I was the AAC, I'd go along with it, trade out the top four CUSA teams and then swap them out with my four worst performing teams and boom! Regional alignment achieved!

Imagine being so bad at your job, you have to contract out of retirement someone who was really good at it just to come up with a plan to which nobody else in your business will listen.

I'm sure the C-USA teams would love this. However if the AAC called UAB today they would be gone tonight.

Pretty certain C-USA would take that deal. Depending on the timeframe the worst 4 AAC performers are probably ECU/USF/Temple/Tulane. Best C-USA I guess Marshall/La Tech/FAU/UAB.

Southern Miss _allegedly_ tried to no-confidence Judy out of office a few years ago, but couldn't find enough support among the other schools. If we cared enough to stay, we could probably win that easily now.

You're not on the list to be added, but they are likely to be making their rounds to these programs nonetheless. Some people know where the AAC Leadership has visited already and there are some programs on this list that have been visited for certain.

Won't divulge that information but suffice it to say that the AAC is leaving no stone unturned.

Knowing nothing of the situation but if they were courting App, would App try to bundle GaSo into a deal in the same way Marshall allegedly is with another team they like?

While I certainly don't know whether App would do such a thing for Ga Southern...
and considering our state of affairs right now, it would be doing us a favor.

I would really (and I can't believe I'm saying this) miss App if they left.

Unless you are forming a corporation to hold the media rights of the shuffled leagues and selling it all as one package and then setting up a bonus structure to distribute part of the money based on the network and window of telecasts you are pissin in the wind, and even then you got to have someone with credibility show that no one ends up worse off financially.
