Loudoun County Gives Disgusting Response to Alleged Cover-up of Rape Involving Transgender Policies

Yet, instead of taking the case seriously, the school first wanted to handle the issue “in-house.” Eventually, the Sheriff’s Department was called in, not on the boy who committed the rape, but on Smith for causing a scene after he found out what had happened. The father was able to get a rape kit administered that evening which came back positive. Yet, instead of protecting others, the student in question was allowed to return to class, where he allegedly sexually assaulted another girl.

Now, the Loudoun County School District has responded, and it’s a gross show of obfuscation and blame-shifting.

There’s a lot here, and all of it is infuriating, from the content to the tone of the statement.

One, the idea that Title IX prevents a school from suspending a student that is under an active criminal investigation for rape in a school bathroom is nonsense. That should have been the first move, given the possible danger to other students. Instead, it appears nothing at all was done to separate the alleged rapist from the student body. LCPS certainly doesn’t seem to be indicating otherwise, and if they did take “interim” measures, they should spell those out.

Further, their claim of calling the police in a timely matter to report the rape is disputed by the fact that the Sherriff’s Department was only called later, in order to remove Smith for lashing out at the school’s lack of care. And while the statement says that the school board was not aware of the “details” of the incident, that kind of weasel language points to the idea that they were still aware that an assault took place. Yet, they lied to the public anyway about there have been no issues regarding the new transgender policies. LCPS is clearly obfuscating, not telling the whole story, and attempting to cover their own tails

At the end of the statement, it simply notes that Smith was not signed up to speak the night of his arrest. I don’t know whether that’s true or not, but regardless, that shouldn’t have been necessary, given the seriousness of his situation, and the school board declared an unlawful assembly anyway, preventing parents from speaking.

Lastly, notice nowhere in their written response does LCPS actually directly acknowledge the rapes took place, nor do they offer their sympathies to Smith or the other parents involved. That simply serves as the cherry on top of what is a disgusting display.

Haven't looked, but I assume the other not mentioned liberal networks are ignoring this story.

Of course they are. It doesn't fit the narrative, just like the TX school shooter didn't fit the narrative, the Memphis Postal shooting didn't fit the narrative, so on and so forth. More Loudoun Cover-Up: Allegedly Failed to Report Multiple Sexual Assaults Despite State Law

Now, it turns out that the district didn’t report multiple incidents as they were required to according to the law, going back several years. The law requires that such school incidents be reported and includes the law holds school superintendents personally liable for violations, according to the Daily Wire. Now the Virginia Department of Education is looking into the matter.

After The Daily Wire raised the discrepancy with the Virginia Department of Education, VDOE spokesman Charles Pyle said that “VDOE is reviewing the discipline, crime and violence data submissions of Loudoun County Public Schools and is in communication with LCPS to determine whether the division’s reporting is accurate and whether the division is in compliance with state and federal law.”

The Daily Wire looked at the statistics being reported according to the law and matched them with known public incidents. They noted that the incident of Scott Smith’s daughter in May of last school year wasn’t reported. An incident in October 2018 was widely reported where three football players at Tuscorara High were arrested and charged with sexual assault. The students allegedly held down a younger player and inserted objects into him in the locker room. A spokesperson for LCPS said then that “the case will be subject to disciplinary action.” Yet, the annual report for Tuscorara for that year reported zero instances of sexual offenses against students.

The Daily Wire asked the LCPS for a response to these questions, but they failed to respond for two days.

So it would appear that the problem in the Loudoun schools extends to more than just this one incident of this one alleged perpetrator and it would definitely appear that the superintendent has some more explaining to do as to just exactly how many incidents have not been reported in accordance with the law.

This is getting worse with every update. What I don't understand is the "advice" given to the girl's parents to stay quiet and let the process run its course. I heard Mr. Smith on an interview with Laura Ingraham, and you can tell he is not a mensa candidate, but it is deplorable to conceal this crime and to not give the parents a proper voice during the process.

The cover-up is quite criminal.

I would agree, and the Captain has accountability for everything that occurs under his command. The Superintendent needs to resign or be fired and criminal charges need to be levied against everyone complicit in this coverup.

“Secondary to the assault investigation, the female student’s parent responded to the school and caused a disruption by using threatening and profane language that was overheard by staff and students… The school’s counseling team is providing services for students who witnessed the parent’s behavior,” Ziegler, whose annual salary is $295,000, wrote in the email.

At the time of Smith’s arrest in June, Ziegler assured the public that “to my knowledge, we don’t have any record of assaults occurring in our restrooms.” But the May 28 email, obtained by WTOP News, confirms that Ziegler knew about the alleged assault, and “failed to provide a safe environment” for children.

“As evidenced by subsequent events and revelations, Loudoun Public Schools have been failing the parents who entrusted them to provide a safe environment for their children every day,” said Bill Stanley, the Smith family’s attorney. “That trust has (been) irrevocably broken by Loudoun County Public Schools’ actions and inactions.”

Ziegler’s email was sent to all members of the Loudoun County School Board, many of whom also denied sexual assault allegations. Board member Beth Barts resigned last week amid a fierce recall campaign to strip the board of its power amid myriad parent complaints.

“Our students do not need to be protected, and they are not in danger,” Barts said in June, after Ziegler had sent her the email about the alleged bathroom assault by a boy wearing a skirt. “Do we have assaults in our bathrooms or locker rooms regularly?”

During the same meeting, board chairwoman Brenda Sheridan, who also received the email a month prior, asked if the district had “any issues involving transgender students in our bathrooms or locker rooms.”

Recent data proves that the school district has failed to report alleged sexual assaults for years, including Smith’s daughter’s allegations. When LCPS reported to the Virginia Department of Education, the district said that “Stone Bridge had zero sexual assaults for the 2020-2021 school year, which includes May 28, 2021.” Ziegler’s email, dated May 28, confirms that the district had knowledge of the situation, but failed to report it.

In a press conference last week, Ziegler blamed Title IX for being “insufficient to address issues at the K-12 level,” saying that the process could be “strengthened with some reforms.” Title IX has never banned schools from referring serious alleged crimes to local police.

The superintendent, who oversees 94 schools and more than 80,000 students, said the district “complied with our obligations under Title IX,” offering no apology to Smith’s daughter or the other students Ziegler’s district failed to protect.

More recent emails from March of this year reveal that one of Ziegler’s executive assistants tried to call attention to the African American Superintendent’s Advisory Council’s “Recommendations on Equity,” which promote “antiracism” and other CRT ideals, but was quickly told by Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Ashley F. Ellis that the district “already [has] a head start with so many of these things.”

Ziegler also quickly asked “how this information can be included in our communications.”

One day later, Ziegler emailed the public school community to try to calm concerns from parents about racist teachings. In his explanation, which Ellis echoed days later, Ziegler claimed that the “Rumors Concerning LCPS Equity Work” are confusing critical race theory and culturally responsive teaching. When Ziegler tried to distinguish between the two, he merely affirmed that the district was asking “employees to examine their own personal biases and how they might affect student instruction and interactions with the community.”

“Concepts such as white supremacy and systemic racism are discussed during professional development,” he wrote. “LCPS has not adopted Critical Race Theory as a framework for staff to adhere to.”

For months, Loudoun officials have downplayed the district’s role in pushing, promoting, and even requiring trainings that teach people to evaluate their role in life based on their race and whether they are an oppressor or oppressed. In May 2020, education officials paid $625 an hour for consultation work containing principles and core elements of CRT.

“While [Loudoun County Public Schools] has not adopted CRT, some of the principles related to race as a social construct and the sharing of stories of racism, racialized oppression, etc. that we are encouraging through the Action Plan to Combat Systemic Racism, in some of our professional learning modules, and our use of instructional resources on the Social Justice standards, do align with the ideology of CRT,” wrote Williams, the former superintendant.

Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe has repeatedly denied that critical race theory is taught in the state even though, under his administration from 2014-2018, the Virginia Education Department explicitly pushed public schools to “embrace critical race theory” and “engage in race-conscious teaching and learning.”

I kinda like your approach as long as I had a lead pipe as a persuader during the one on one close door meetings. Seriously, I had serious anger management issues as a youth into my early adult life. I would probably end up in trouble because if this was my daughter I'd beat them into hospital stay. Including the dad and kid who did it.

My suggestion for Smith is a simple one. In the middle to late 1800's when people had had enough of where the lived they simply carved GTT on their wooden door or gate post and left. GTT stood for GONE TO TEXAS and it let everyone know where they went.

Another benefit is that Texas needs as many plumbers as we can find. They are scarce in SE Texas.
