He was careful not to say UTA and Little Rock must go. Also said baseball and softball are important sports to the Belt and what additions may bring to those sports is important. Said we want to be a multi-bid league in basketball

Southern Miss certainly makes baseball better. JMU would make softball a LOT better (and it's already a pretty durn good league.)

Would JMU still be a softball power after their all world pitcher leaves?

JMU is good every year. Last year wasn't the only year they've had national success. I remember them winning a regional a few years ago.

2013 42-17
2014 43-15
2015 48-10
2016 50-6
2017 52-8
2018 43-14
2019 51-10
2020 13-6
2021 41-4

Pretty consistent, I would say.

We have a long way to go to be there. But I would be happy being a multil-bid baseball league again. 04-cheers

With South, Coastal, Southern Miss, Louisiana (plus GS and TXST), if we can't be a multi bid league, shame on us.

I agree. Much greater chance in being multi-bid in baseball. The first step in basketball needs to be eliminating non D1 games or at least only allow 1

I agree 100%. For as much as I hate ULM always being talked down about on this board, I must admit that ULM contributes to the not playing D1 basketball programs issue. We must stop doing this.

I wish Troy baseball was more consistent. We’ve had some good seasons lately but also some not so good ones in the same time frame.

The difficult thing is that if we cut non D1 games out completely, a lot of teams are going to struggled to get a decent number of OOC home games. However, there should be a cap.

How do non-D1 games affect RPI?

No impact. They don't count towards RPI. In a sense, there's less risk playing Champions Christian than you get playing Mississippi Valley State.

We are building up quite a rivalry with Carver Bible College— LOL. Our home non-conference schedule has 3 such teams on it this year—- yuck

My favorite game is the battle for the Louisiana's, when UL plays Louisiana College.

App had a good run until Duke plucked the ol ball coach. Not sure what has gone on since the broach with the Super Regionals but I know a lot of talent left that year as well and it's been sort of a rebuild every since. There is a lot of baseball talent in the Carolinas, and always was where I grew up right down the mountain.

I think three or four kids in my Little League went Division 1. Not sure if that's the case anymore.

I can’t imagine ANY two adds make us a multi-bid basketball conference. Am I not seeing two stud BB programs that are available??

That was a charlie cobb special not long before he jumped ship to gast. Billy Jones was similar to the Capel hire. Hired his friend from when they crossed paths at NC State. Jones ran the program into the ground - recruited big (nationwide) but many kids never ended up on campus opting to sign in the MLB draft.

Kermit has done an admirable job bringing us back to respectability, but still a long way to go.
