One of the many things the administration has done to destroy the gameday environment. The cannon. Red-black chant. East-side lot tailgating rules. Etc.

The blanket thing is much better than NIU selling long-sleeved shirts at our Wyoming game in 85 degree weather, so I'll give them credit for that. I already have a tailgating blanket I bought at one of the auctions, but I'll take another one.

Why is the red/black chant gone?

Because nobody knows when to say Red or Black when they have the whole stadium saying it. It doesn't work.

Red & Black chant not gone. It has been moved to right before the opening kickoff. 0:30 on the pregame clock

It used to be cheerleaders holding up signs telling the west side when to yell and others telling the east side when to yell. It got both sides involved in a competition of red vs. black. It actually worked. This attempt at a red-black chant via the scoreboard is a joke. It was especially good right before the other team's offense took the field, since the red-black chant would continue long after the cheerleaders left the field, and it was loud.

The cheerleaders must have been told not to do it anymore, or else why would they have stopped doing what was becoming a tradition? It would be good to find out the reason.

I just always assumed they were too busy sitting on your lap to lead cheers.

I loved them, too. Bring them back for the entire stadium! Apparently, the administration did not want it to be too loud in the stadium. Might upset the opposing team, you know!

The 02 BGSU game - the birth of Thunderstix at NIU. What a fun time.
