If he loses the starting job to Freshman Caleb Williams for the rest of the season?

He'll hit the portal at the end of the season. Lincoln will try to involve him in the offense at times to keep him a part of the team for this season, but barring injury, it's Caleb Williams' team now. It is in Spencer's best interest to be a good soldier between now and the end of the season. The better his behavior on and off the field, the better opportunity he will have coming out of the portal.
