Mason Crosby had hit 27 straight field goals going into today's game. Between the 2 minute warning and the end of OT, he missed three straight before hitting the game-winner.

And some of you are concerned because a true freshman who has been injured was rusty in his first time out.

It's IKE's understanding, it took Gotti and Jake awhile to get adjusted

Jake missed 11 FGs during his sophomore year.

Gotti only won the job due to an injury to the other kicker his first year ...

sounds like a broken record; but Kemp is a Freshman .... Freshman QB, Freshman feature RB, Freshman CB, Freshman Center .... all talented, just a little inexperienced ... have to believe we will be much better by the end of the year, and the mistakes will be corrected ...

I think the new kid was rattled.

The number one trait of a GREAT kicker is they don't get rattled.

He may get better, but unless he overcomes his jitters he can never be great in the clutch.

The punter that has been kicking has ice in his veins. He should switch to place kicking.

His first game kicking should have been a home game.

This is funny on so many levels.

I am not necessarily concerned about the frosh. It was his first time out and it was on the road.

I am concerned about the coaches - ST and HC. If he wasn't ready, he shouldn't have been put in. If he's too nervous, he shouldn't have been put in. And for sure, he shouldn't have been jerked out.

Yeah I can agree with this. He clearly was not ready. But I bet he can recover from being replaced by Doyle in the 2nd half. Also, I did like what I saw on our 2pt. conversions. We seemed to run those two plays really well and the offense looked like they all knew exactly what to do.

This. College freshmen miss kicks, drop passes, miss blocks, throw interceptions, and fumble the ball. If you want to watch professionals there's the NFL, which is where, by the way, most of these kids are going to end up.

Holyterror,
Ike watched some NFL games on Sunday and
They, missed field goals, had interceptions, dropped passes and fumbles
It's football, it happens.
Dudes need to watch hockey, they'll never see those things

Yep. I think it's just basic fan base stuff. It applies to basketball, too.
It's just more noticeable when you have starters at several skill positions who are freshmen.

What ever happened to that basketball freshman we had that we called Andre Turnover? Seems that he grew up and became sort of a decent player.

These guys will learn from their mistakes so the future looks pretty good.

If he was rusty the coach should have know...This is what practice is for.

If he wasn't ready that is on the coach...If he was ready and choked, well that is on him.

THE HEAD COACH---said at the- post- game -presser -that -he hadn't even seen him kick that week in practice--I thought that was odd

I have no issue with that....As the CEO you have to trust your assistants...But man someone would have to answer some questions.

I do have a problem with it. Coming off an injury, as a frosh, in a position to win or lose the game? Yeah, the HC has to at least watch a few kicks while chatting with the ST Coordinator.

Now, whether the HC actually said that is another story. I haven't heard or seen it. Believe at your own risk from That Poster.
