I like to see them come in FB only,

If all it takes to join this great conference is to go 6-0 in a borderline FCS conference C-USA than we have really set the bar low. It’s pretty depressing.

Well Texas ain’t coming, and neither is LSU, Ohio State or Georgia. We are who we are and we will have to support and grow whoever our new conference mates are.

It’s all about markets and academics, we can do better than UTSA. Rice and Army, call it a day and let’s continue to be a top 4 conference.

Unless UTSA becomes a consistent top 25 program I would much rather have Rice in the conference.

Memphis academically is ranked below four CUSA schools. Wichita State is tied for the bottom spot will all other unranked schools. Both schools have strong basketball, so clearly it's not all about academics.

So those four universities have to look in the mirror and determine what they are doing wrong right?

RE: Future AAC Member...
People who seem to think the AAC will add schools such as Texas State, Rice, ODU, and Charlotte must have some rationale for believing this.

So what is that rationale?

What could possibly make the AAC presidents decide to add a bunch of schools that have had mediocre teams, at best, in recent years.

I know that they must have a pretty good theory as to what the AAC presidents have in mind, such as:

Theory #1: The AAC presidents want to add schools with mediocre FB and BB teams because that will make it easier for their own FB and BB teams to play in bowl games and the NCAA tournament.

Theory #2: The AAC presidents want to add schools with mediocre FB and BB teams because they have secret information indicating that these are going to be the strongest schools five years from now.

Theory #3: The AAC presidents have been taking cash under the table from the boosters of the mediocre universities that they are going to vote for.

Theory #4: ESPN wants the AAC to add schools with mediocre FB and BB teams because they're trying to force the conference to implode, so they can get out of their broadcasting agreement with the AAC.

Theory #5: Any combination of theories #1 through #4.

Which of these theories makes the most sense to you, if any?

.

Apparently, you didn't realize that, with the possible exception of Theory #1, none of these theories were intended to be serious. I was hoping that some people would offer their own theories, one of which might have made some sense.

Lol, not even close. We actually control our market and we got called up to the big leagues of the AAC years ago while Rice has been playing FCS competition down in C-USA. Rice isn’t even in the same universe as us.

Sun Belt only has one school ranked ahead of Memphis, and it's not Georgia State. The point I'm making is that academics and markets aren't the only things the AAC looks for in members.

I think Tulane can make it as a 1-A Independent. They have the money. After Cincy, UCF, and Houston leave that leaves by my count 7 full members in the AAC, which is one full member short to remain a viable conference according to NCAA rules. I mean since it's clear no one in the Mountain West is going to help the AAC stay viable, it sounds like the AAC has to step out of their universe to recruit a poor FCS school with unintelligent degenerates for students from Conference USA or the Sun Belt so your school can still have a conference to call home. Does that sound about right?
