Big 12 Round Two
Watching the atmosphere of the BYU and Boise State, UCF and Oklahoma State playing Boise shows that Boise belong in the P5. Same can be said of Memphis. If the Big 12 adds two more schools besides these two, there appears to be some options. SMU and USF are in the discussion, at a lesser extent Colorado State, San Diego State and even Tulane. I would like to see Boise and Memphis added but what are the strengths and weaknesses of each of the other five?

Always completed ignored on this site.

Did they luckback and beat the 26 year olds of BYU? Either way, BYU is/was quite overrated.

Memphis also beat Miss state…Who beat Texas A&M… who beat Alabama. Just sayin.

Memphis has lost 3 games by of 12 points. Young team that needs to learn how to put teams away. True freshman quarterback too.

Yep, the Big 12 needs to be the Big 14.

Speaking of that, what is the SEC divisional setup gonna be?

The Boise/BYU game was at BYU. So any atmosphere you saw belonged to BYU.

16. I wish the P5 or A5 would all go to 16 and then split from the rest. Everyone thought it would be 4 16 team power Conferences but the PAC 12 and Big 10 got cold feet and let the Big 12 add schools quickly to survive.
16 teams has always made more sense then 14 because you can play teams in your conference more often with a 3-2-2-2 model. So you play everyone in your pod and 2 teams from the other pod. You won't have the long breaks of not playing someone if your doing home & home with the other pods.

There are no home run picks left for B12, Boise and Memphis could work out as ground rule doubles though. School Prez's look at everything when making choices, and academics do matter. I could see the B12 adding 2 maybe even 4, but who would be best picks is up in the air. They don't need to rush in any case, wait and see what happens with Pac tv deal.

By reports 6 teams had unanimous votes for consideration of invitation. All 6 could have been invited in a staggered manner so that the limit of 14 teams not exceeded by 2025. Only 4 were invited. The two that weren’t both had worse academics. While academics may not be a driver for selection, it might have been a factor for non selection.

Imho AFA and Navy are the best remaining programs. Great academics, good national reputation, reasonable athletic competitive, and regionally congruent, and adds an additional western and eastern team (2 western teams means 1+ western broadcast time, 4 eastern teams means 2+ eastern broadcast time). They are also natural rivals and would give both an additional OOC game.

You seriously need to relax. You are exclaiming "bad academics " so much that you are starting to sound like the rain man. You just soi happen to keep ignoring the fact that people have told you several times that Memphis is about to move up to R1 designation and no offense to Boise you keep mentioning "Memphis and Boise " as though we are so type of academic siamese twins which couldn't be further from the truth. The truth is that. University of Memphis's goal was never to strive towards exclusionary goals of admittance. The UM has however become the home of many and I mean many first generation college grads including myself, my brother and my wife and now our children are all first generation holders of master degrees. I'll take that anyday over your obvious fake elitism about academics and the "Next to schools"in line for big12 acceptance. 05-nono05-nono

I personally would add two before losing two. The reason being, I can collect buyout money and then split a 14 team contract 12 or 10 ways if there are no viable replacements to the schools that end up getting poached. I think UC is a real threat to join the ACC in a few years. KU to the B1G, and PAC 12 expansion. So I’d go (or stay) at 14 by 2025.

There is no need for 16 to go to pods. It works perfectly well with 14. You can do a 4-3-3-4 and play everyone home and away over 4 years with only 8 games in addition to 3 teams every year. ( for the proof-2X10 + 4X3=32. 4 years X 8=32).

I've always thought the ACC would be the best home for UC, but if/when the ACC gets picked apart by the B1G and SEC, the ACC will be an in-name-only parody of its former self. What we're facing in realignment, to borrow a sentiment from former Harvard geologist Stephen Jay Gould, is punctuated equilibrium. Things settle down for a while, and then there's a big change, Then they settle down for a while again until there's another big change. Every school, every conference, and every network or streaming service is looking out for its own best interests. That's not a recipe for stability.

Its like Frank the Tank says-"think like a university president." They want to be associated with better or peer schools. Now money tells you how snobby you can be. For the Big 10, they will be very snobby because almost nobody produces enough money to be profitable to add. For the Big 12, they won't be as snobby. But they may well decide Boise and Memphis are too far below them even if they bring even money. Now if Boise had the national value of Notre Dame, they would overlook that like the ACC overlooked Louisville being academically lower ranked than any of the ACC schools.
